Overview

Icey is snow removal and ice management software for coordinating estimates, crews, field work and billing. It is best suited to snow and ice contractors who need route dispatch and detailed site-level service records. Its operational coverage is strong, but payment collection and accounting handoff require work outside the platform.

Key features

The storm board combines dispatch with route assignment, and route optimization helps organize jobs across a crew’s workload. Field Mode adds GPS tracking, job timers, photos, navigation and offline use, giving operators a way to document visits even when connectivity is unavailable. Live conditions and snowfall forecasts, along with weather notes attached to storm events, add context to service records.

Clients can use a live link without logging in to check service status, queue position during a storm and completed-work photos. That provides useful visibility without asking customers to maintain an account. Site- and visit-level salt logs capture material, application rate, timestamp, GPS location and photos, making Icey particularly relevant to teams that need a detailed record of de-icing work.

Icey supports invoicing, but billing has two practical gaps: there is no built-in card payment processing, and QuickBooks receives invoices only through CSV export rather than direct sync. Teams that rely on automated payment collection or a live accounting connection should plan for manual steps or consider another product.

Icey says it does not sell personal information and collects Field Mode GPS only while that feature is in use. Its stated safeguards include TLS/SSL encryption in transit and at rest, row-level data isolation, role-based access controls and security monitoring. After account termination, data is retained for 30 days for recovery before permanent deletion, subject to stated exceptions.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and remains free forever. It covers up to 15 active sites and five operator seats, with unlimited admin and office users and clients. That is a practical starting point for a small crew, but the five-operator ceiling and 15-site cap limit its fit as a contractor grows.

Pro costs 79529.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and supports up to 500 active sites and 25 operator seats. Extra seats are prorated monthly. Priority support and a 60-day money-back guarantee are included, making this the paid option for established teams that need more operating capacity than Free allows.

Season Pass costs 79025290.00 USD per year, paid once in the fall. It includes everything in Pro, locks the price for the full season and offers invoiced billing; extra seats added mid-season are prorated. Its one-time seasonal payment may suit operators planning around a snow season, while the annual commitment is less suited to teams that prefer monthly billing. Icey offers self-serve signup and lets users request a walkthrough by email; there is no free trial.

Platforms

Icey is available on Android, iOS and the web, supporting crews in the field as well as office users.

Who it's for

Icey fits snow and ice contractors who want dispatch, field documentation, client updates and per-visit salt records in one system. Free is aimed at crews of up to five operators. Larger or multi-branch operations are invited to contact Icey, while teams that depend on built-in card collection or direct QuickBooks syncing should look elsewhere or account for a separate workflow.

Pros and cons

Detailed field and salt records: GPS, timestamps, photos and application rates support a visit-by-visit account of work.
Offline field mode: Crews can use job timers, navigation and photo capture without relying on a live connection.
Low-friction client updates: A no-login link exposes service status, storm queue position and completed-work photos.
No built-in card payments: Payment status must be updated by manually marking invoices paid.
No direct QuickBooks sync: CSV export supports an import workflow, not ongoing synchronization.
Capacity ceilings: Free stops at 15 sites and five operators; Pro allows 500 sites and 25 operators before extra seats are needed.

Alternatives

Snow Removal Software is the broader category directory for comparing products in this field.

CrewNest is worth considering for a smaller team seeking a free plan with up to three estimates and one user, plus a free trial.
Lawn Snow App offers a free Starter plan with no monthly software fee, though it charges a $2.90 internal cost per paid service stop.
Plowdesk may suit operators prioritizing an unlimited-user free plan, which includes up to three storm routes, manual customer notifications and Venmo payment tracking.
Snow Removal CRM by ServeHub is an alternative for teams that want one-tap card payments in its free plan, which is priced in CAD.
Pinstripe Fleet is another freemium option for iOS and web.
Tempett may appeal to buyers seeking one fixed price with SMS, email, contracts, invoicing and GPS, plus free onboarding and no long-term contract.
PlowOps is a paid alternative with custom subscription pricing and a demo request.
Autopilot is a paid alternative with a free trial and a Run plan at 49.00 USD per month, including one user and scheduling, jobs, dispatch, estimates and invoicing.

Verdict

Icey is a strong fit for snow and ice contractors who value dispatch paired with offline field work, client visibility and defensible site-level salt records. The free tier gives small crews a way to begin, while Pro and Season Pass add capacity for larger operations. Look elsewhere if built-in card payments or direct QuickBooks syncing are central to your billing process.
