Overview

Fair HQ treats DEI as an operating metric rather than a standalone campaign. It surveys employees for anonymised views of eNPS, engagement, inclusion and equality, then audits HR processes, policies and workplace behaviours. That combination can give portfolio leaders a consistent way to compare progress and identify where intervention is needed. It is less suitable for an organisation seeking only a one-time survey or a local, self-hosted system.

Key features

The platform brings together more than 1,000 data points, insights and benchmarks and tracks results over time. Its DEI metrics dashboard, pay-equity analysis, inclusive-recruiting tools and DEI action plans cover both measurement and programme management. Anonymous feedback can make it easier for employees to raise issues, although the usefulness of any survey depends on participation and trust.

Findings are converted into personalised, data-driven strategies, science-backed actions, and policy and process templates. This is a meaningful advantage over dashboards that stop at reporting: HR and management teams receive a route from evidence to a proposed change. The recommendations still require internal ownership, so Fair HQ cannot by itself deliver policy adoption or cultural improvement.

An integrated Slack bot sends evidence-backed nudges to managers. For organisations already working in Slack, those prompts can keep inclusive practices visible between formal reviews; teams that do not use Slack will gain less from this part of the service.

Fair HQ says it connects with more than 50 HR platforms, including Workday, HiBob and Sage. Broad integration coverage may reduce duplicate data work for established HR stacks, but buyers should confirm that their specific systems and data flows are supported.

Pricing

Fair HQ uses paid, custom pricing. The homepage directs prospective customers to book a demo, and platform fees are provided by Fair HQ rather than published as a standard rate. This approach is appropriate for funds managing different portfolio sizes or scopes, but it prevents quick self-service comparison and makes budgeting dependent on a sales conversation.

There is no stated free plan, trial period, seat allowance or usage quota. Buyers should establish those commercial terms, renewal conditions and any charges for expanding portfolio coverage before committing. The terms also say non-standard support may incur reasonable fees, so organisations needing bespoke assistance should include that possibility in procurement.

Platforms

Fair HQ is delivered on the web. Its terms state that the platform is hosted online and is not available locally from an employer’s systems. That suits distributed investment and portfolio teams that want browser access, but it will not meet a requirement for on-premises deployment.

Fair HQ says it uses industry-standard systems and processes to protect employer data and relies on infrastructure providers. Its privacy notice says services may process sensitive information, including race, ethnic origin, health and sexual orientation. A buyer should therefore involve privacy, security and employment-law stakeholders in the implementation decision.

Who it's for

The clearest fit is a private equity or venture capital fund coordinating DEI measurement across portfolio companies, or a portfolio business with HR capacity to act on recurring findings. The benchmark library, trend tracking and HR integrations support structured oversight across organisations. Smaller teams wanting a simple employee-feedback tool, or organisations that cannot accept cloud hosting or sensitive-data processing, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: More than 1,000 data points and benchmarks provide context for tracking change instead of relying on isolated survey scores.
Pro: Personalised strategies, science-backed actions and templates connect measurement with practical follow-up.
Pro: Surveys, HR audits, pay-equity analysis, inclusive recruiting and action plans cover several parts of a DEI programme.
Pro: Slack nudges and integrations with over 50 HR platforms can place guidance in existing workflows.
Con: Pricing is only available on request, making cost comparison and early budgeting difficult.
Con: Online-only hosting excludes employers that require local deployment.
Con: Processing of sensitive demographic, health and sexuality data raises compliance and governance demands.
Con: Non-standard support may cost extra, which matters for complex portfolio rollouts.

Alternatives

Choose Diverst if Android access alongside the web is important and you are comfortable contacting sales for pricing. Teleskope Affinities is the better direction for enterprise employee-resource-group management across Android, iOS and web, with no free plan. Pick Applied or Chezie if a paid product with a free trial is a priority. Benevity Employee Groups suits organisations wanting custom-scoped employee-group pricing on the web. CommunityCliQ is another web option with demo-based pricing. Indi is worth considering for enterprise engagement, ERG discovery, mentorship and career-development modules, while its Core plan targets DEI teams and ERG leaders. Mathison is a web-based paid alternative with pricing on request. For a wider comparison, see Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Software.

Verdict

Fair HQ is a strong choice for investment firms and portfolio companies that want DEI surveys, HR audits, benchmarks and recommended actions in one managed web service. Choose it for the breadth of its measurement and its links to everyday HR workflows. Look elsewhere if transparent pricing, on-premises hosting or a lower-governance approach to sensitive employee data is essential.
