Overview

Kinetic brings manufacturing operations and financial management together, spanning production, scheduling, purchasing, supply chain, payables, receivables and general ledger. Inventory, order and multi-entity management extend that core. This is a substantial ERP scope, suited to organizations coordinating operational and financial work rather than buying a single-purpose application.

Deployment is described as hybrid, with cloud and self-hosted access among its platform options. Epicor is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and was founded in 1972.

Key features

Forecasting, material requirements planning, advanced planning and scheduling, and sourcing connect production plans to material and supplier decisions. That combination is relevant to manufacturers balancing changing demand against production capacity and supply. Production data collection and IoT-enabled MES capabilities monitor equipment, efficiency and quality metrics, helping teams bring shop-floor signals into operational oversight.

Application Studio offers no-code and low-code configuration of interfaces and workflows. That gives businesses a way to adapt processes, though configuration still requires decisions about how the ERP should reflect their operations.

Integration options include REST APIs, EDI and B2B connections, plus partner links using JSON and XML. REST services follow OData v4 and can connect with Excel and Power BI. This range can serve businesses linking Kinetic with trading partners and analytics tools, rather than relying on one data-exchange route.

Epicor cites multi-factor authentication, regional disaster recovery, daily backups, monitoring, audits, data masking and encryption among its cloud security measures. The Select cloud package adds daily backups retained for 30 days, in-region disaster recovery, monthly updates and a historic 99.98% SLA. It also includes the Essential Support Plan.

Concurrent user licenses are not tied to a named user or device, which can suit teams whose system users vary by shift or location. Kinetic also offers a mobile, browser-based responsive experience, alongside Android, iOS, Windows, web, API and self-hosted platform options.

Pricing

Kinetic is paid software with custom pricing. The plan combines a chosen platform core, cloud package, concurrent user licenses and industry bundles. Epicor does not publish a starting price or license count, so buyers should request a quote that spells out the package and licensing needed for their users.

The Select cloud package is the clearest described service tier: it includes the Essential Support Plan, monthly updates, the stated backup and disaster-recovery provisions, and a historic 99.98% SLA. The package is most relevant to buyers weighing cloud service protections and support alongside the ERP itself. There is no free plan or trial described.

Platforms

Kinetic supports Android, iOS, Windows, web, API and self-hosted access. Its responsive browser experience supports access across devices, while APIs provide a route for system integration. This breadth is useful for organizations with mixed device and deployment needs, though buyers should confirm which options apply to their chosen package.

Who it's for

Kinetic is aimed at manufacturers, particularly discrete and make-to-order businesses that need production, scheduling, inventory, purchasing and financial management in a connected platform. Its planning tools and shop-floor monitoring are most compelling when production and supply decisions need to inform one another. Businesses that need only one operational function, or cannot justify a broad ERP implementation, should look for a more focused product.

Pros and cons

Pros: Manufacturing, planning, supply chain and financial functions share one ERP, reducing the need to coordinate those core processes across separate tools.
Pros: REST, EDI, B2B and partner integrations provide multiple ways to connect business systems and trading partners.
Pros: Concurrent licenses are not tied to named users or devices, a practical fit for variable or shift-based access.
Cons: Custom pricing means buyers need a quote to assess cost against their license and package needs.
Cons: The platform's wide functional scope may be more than a business seeking a single-purpose tool needs.

Alternatives

Consider DMSi Agility as another paid option, with Android, API, iOS, web and Windows platforms; its ERP plan price is not published. Infor Public Sector is another paid option spanning Android, API, iOS, self-hosted, web and Windows, with pricing by request. Blue Link ERP and Distribution One are paid alternatives with web and mobile platform support.

Rootstock ERP offers Growth with core ERP functionality, wizard-based configuration and a focused set of add-ons; its Advanced plan adds advanced manufacturing and distribution capabilities. Encompass Distribution Cloud and SynTrack are paid alternatives with web and mobile platform support. Acumatica Field Service uses custom pricing based on applications, expected usage and resources, and deployment preferences.

Verdict

Choose Epicor Kinetic if your manufacturing business needs production, planning, supply chain and finance in a configurable ERP, and its concurrent licensing and integration options fit your operating model. Its strongest case is the breadth of connected manufacturing and business functions; look elsewhere if you need a focused application or need a published price before engaging a vendor.
