Overview

The platform combines audit planning, evidence collection, control testing, findings and remediation in a workflow designed for internal audit. Linking plans to enterprise risk and prioritizing work can help chief audit executives focus assurance activity. Its supported audit type is internal audit, so teams seeking a tool for a wider mix of audit programs may prefer a broader fit.

Questionnaires, framework mapping, workflow automation and a SOX control library support repeatable programs. Governance documents, ownership structures, filing deadline tracking and multi-country jurisdiction coverage extend its reach beyond the audit workflow. That range is useful for organizations managing related governance processes in one environment, though buyers should confirm which capabilities suit their intended use.

Key features

AI-assisted audit work

AuditAI can roll prior audits forward, draft evidence requests, send follow-ups, execute control tests and prepare reports. These functions target recurring coordination and documentation work. Diligent says consequential actions require human approval, and recommendations can be explained and overridden; an audit trail records actions. That oversight model suits teams that want automation without handing final decisions to the system.

Risk and controls

Risk assessment connects audit plans to enterprise risk and supports prioritization and natural-language analysis of data. Agentic AI monitors controls for gaps and exceptions, with actions held for review. Together with control testing workflows, deficiency management and remediation tracking, this gives audit teams a route from identifying an issue to following corrective work. Teams should weigh that integrated approach against the need for reviewers to remain involved in consequential actions.

Reporting and integrations

The platform can turn findings into board-ready reports and summarize them with AI, which can help audit leaders communicate outcomes. Data connectors for SAP, Oracle and Concur can bring relevant source data into audit work. Diligent also describes mobile apps and offline modes for fieldwork, and its audit leadership page cites FedRAMP and DoD IL5 authorization, end-to-end encryption, audit trails and role-based access controls.

Pricing

Diligent Audit is paid, with custom pricing requested from Diligent. There is no free plan. Buyers should request a quote to judge cost against their team size and audit needs; no seat or usage limits are provided for the plan.

The Diligent Audit plan has no published price and includes audit templates, evidence collection, findings and actions. It also supports control testing workflows, continuous monitoring, management certifications, remediation tracking and automated reminders. This breadth is aimed at organizations running structured internal audit programs; without a lower-priced tier or free plan, smaller teams cannot assess a cheaper entry point from the plan structure.

Diligent says most organizations transition from manual processes within three months through streamlined onboarding and pre-built workflow templates. That may help teams replacing manual processes, but the transition timeline is not a substitute for confirming implementation scope and price.

Platforms

Platform data names Android, iOS, web and API. Diligent’s audit materials also describe mobile apps and offline modes for fieldwork from any device. The product plan data, however, identifies mobile apps as web-only, so buyers who depend on native mobile access should confirm the supported experience before choosing it.

Who it's for

Diligent Audit is best suited to internal audit teams, particularly chief audit executives who need risk-linked planning, control monitoring and assurance reporting. Its SOX control library, framework mapping, questionnaire tools and workflow automation suit organizations seeking a structured program with follow-through on deficiencies and remediation. It is less compelling for buyers who need transparent upfront pricing or whose primary requirement is a different audit type.

Pros and cons

Risk-linked planning: Connecting plans to enterprise risk and prioritizing work helps teams direct assurance effort.
Automated workflow with oversight: AuditAI covers recurring audit tasks while human approval, explainable recommendations and recorded actions preserve review.
Broad control and governance coverage: Control testing, monitoring, remediation, SOX support and governance tools can serve connected processes.
Custom pricing: Buyers must request a quote, making cost comparison difficult before engaging Diligent.
Mobile detail needs confirmation: Mobile and offline fieldwork are described, while plan data says web-only for mobile apps.

Alternatives

For a wider audit-management shortlist, compare Audit Management Software. Buyers focused on control obligations can also review SOX Compliance Software. Organizations whose priority is vendor exposure rather than internal audit may prefer Third-Party Risk Management Software.

Choose SecurityScorecard Third-Party Risk Management if a free forever option for security ratings, digital footprint management, issue prioritization, alerts and questionnaire response matters more than Diligent’s internal-audit workflow. Whistic is another freemium option, with standardized frameworks, a trust catalog, vendor review workflows and automated reassessments.

Black Kite Third-Party Cyber Risk is a paid alternative with onboarding and configuration included and unlimited users in its Standard plan. ProcessUnity Third-Party Risk Management may suit smaller or midsize businesses prepared for a stated starting point of 25,000.00 USD per contact.

Drata is a paid option with a free trial and a GRC Foundation plan for up to 50 FTEs and one pre-mapped framework. For board-focused workflows, compare Board Portal Software and Board Management Software; nBoardPortal is another paid web option. Riskonnect is a paid option with web, iOS and Android support. For entity-focused needs, review Legal Entity Management Software. Certa Third-Party Risk Management is another paid web-based alternative.

Verdict

Choose Diligent Audit if your internal audit team needs risk-linked planning, control oversight and reporting in one workflow, with AI assistance governed by human review. Its breadth is the main reason to choose it; custom pricing and the discrepancy around mobile access are the main reasons to compare alternatives and confirm fit first.
