Overview

Cozi brings a color-coded family calendar, shared lists and a recipe library together, with weekly dinner planning that can turn recipe ingredients into shopping-list items. That makes it a practical fit for households managing both appointments and everyday errands. The one-way calendar feeds and all-or-nothing member permissions are important constraints, though: included family members can view, add, edit and delete account data, with no restricted-access option.

Cozi began in 2005 and is based in Seattle. Its accounts work on the web, iOS and Android.

Key features

Calendar and household lists

The shared calendar is color-coded and supports reminders and agenda emails. Shopping lists can be shared with family members or emailed to someone picking up groceries. Shared to-do, chore, packing and other lists cover household tasks, with no stated cap on the number of lists. Together, these tools make Cozi more useful for ongoing family coordination than a calendar alone.

Calendar feeds

Cozi supports read-only feeds to and from Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar. That can help families see schedules from those services alongside Cozi’s calendar, but changes do not sync both ways. Choose another approach if bidirectional calendar updates are essential.

Recipes and other capabilities

The recipe library supports weekly dinner planning and lets users add ingredients to a shopping list, linking meal decisions to grocery errands. Gold adds up to three reminders per event, while Max adds AI Event Import, AI Recipe Creator and AI Meal Planner. Video meeting support is also available, though the core offering is household organization.

Pricing

Cozi is freemium, with a free plan and two annual paid tiers. Gold costs 39.00 USD per year; one subscription covers everyone in the account. It adds up to three reminders per event, and Gold subscribers receive priority email support. This is the relevant upgrade for families who want more event reminders without paying for the AI tools.

Max costs 79.00 USD per year and includes everything in Gold, plus AI Event Import, AI Recipe Creator and AI Meal Planner. It is the tier to consider when those tools matter; otherwise, Gold costs less while retaining the core organizer features.

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes the shared family calendar, automatic notifications, shared grocery and to-do lists, and recipe library. It is a substantial starting point, but the paid tiers are needed for Gold’s additional reminders and Max’s AI tools. A two-week Gold trial is available when starting a subscription on the web; subscriptions started through an app store do not offer the trial.

Platforms

Cozi is accessible on the web and through iOS and Android apps. The same account supports up to 12 family members, but all included members have the same ability to view, add, edit and delete account data. Support is by email rather than phone; Gold subscribers receive priority email support.

Who it's for

Cozi is a good fit for families that want a shared calendar alongside grocery, chore and other lists, with meal planning connected to shopping. The 12-member account limit can accommodate a large household, and its free tier lets families use the core organizer without a subscription.

Look elsewhere if calendar updates need to flow both ways, or if some family members should have limited access. The absence of phone support may also matter to users who prefer to resolve account issues by phone.

Pros and cons

Pros: Calendar, lists, recipes and dinner planning sit in one family account, with recipe ingredients transferable to a shopping list.
Pros: Up to 12 members can share an account, and there is no stated limit on the number of lists.
Pros: The free plan includes the core calendar, notifications, lists and recipe library.
Cons: Calendar feeds are read-only, so changes do not sync in both directions.
Cons: Every included member can change account data; there is no restricted-access setting.
Cons: The Gold trial requires starting the subscription on the web, and support is email-only.

Verdict

Choose Cozi if your household wants a free shared home for calendars, lists and meal planning, with paid upgrades for extra reminders or AI tools. Its main case against itself is clear: one-way calendar feeds and unrestricted member permissions make it a poor fit for households that need synchronized updates or separate access levels.
