Overview

At its core, CDM+ provides a fund-accounting ledger with unlimited accounts, designated and undesignated fund balances, transfers, bank reconciliation and customizable reporting. Its unchangeable audit trail and audit reports make it a stronger fit for organizations that need to trace ledger activity than for those seeking only basic bookkeeping.

The suite extends into clergy payroll, electronic 1099 filing and automatically updated tax tables. It can accommodate different employee roles and payers with separate Federal EINs. Customers can pay invoices online by card or ACH, with payments recorded in CDM+ Accounting; staff can photograph receipts in the mobile app and send expenses to Accounts Payable. These connected workflows are useful for organizations wanting accounting and routine administration together, though the feature breadth may be unnecessary for a group shopping for accounting alone.

Every plan includes Data Hosting, with 24/7 database access, secure off-site daily backups and automatic server upgrades. CDM+ says most hosting facilities are SOC-2 certified and remote access is limited to Suran staff using best-practice security controls. The software also integrates with bank accounts for accounting and reconciliation, and provides an API for integrations into its suite.

Key features

Fund accounting and auditability: Track designated and undesignated balances, transfer funds and retain a full, unchangeable ledger audit trail. This is particularly relevant to organizations that need to distinguish restricted funds and review ledger changes.
Budgeting and reporting: Set monthly and annual budgets, compare actuals with budget, and use customizable financial reports to monitor performance.
Payroll: Clergy payroll, varied employee roles and payers with unique Federal EINs, electronic 1099 filing and updated tax tables bring specialized nonprofit payroll needs into the suite.
Payments and expenses: Online invoice payments by card or ACH are saved to accounting, while the mobile app routes photographed receipts to Accounts Payable. Card processing costs $0.30 plus 2.9% for Visa/MasterCard/Discover or $0.30 plus 3.5% for American Express; ACH costs $0.30 plus 0.8%. Payroll direct deposit costs $0.50.
Hosting and support: Hosting, backups and server upgrades are included. Each plan includes introductory training, with phone, online and in-person training also offered, plus documentation and videos. Support is available by phone and email during weekday business hours.
Migration: CDM+ can import data from just about any system, and conversion is free for new subscriptions that remain active for at least 12 months. That minimum commitment matters to organizations considering a move.

Pricing

CDM+ has no free plan, and SaaS plans are paid monthly through automatic ACH withdrawals; annual SaaS billing is not available. A promotion offers new subscribers their first 3 months free, with data transfer at no extra cost. Most plans include one concurrent user; additional users generally cost $5 monthly, with exceptions. Additional organizations generally cost $15 monthly, subject to a $30 monthly cap.

Essentials — $25.00 per month: One program and one user. It is the lowest-cost entry point, but Essentials can export data without providing a specific QuickBooks integration, so it is a weaker fit for organizations requiring that connection.
Starter — $25.00 per month: One program, one concurrent user, 50 individual records and 25 giving unit records. Its record caps suit smaller organizations, but growth may require a higher tier.
Grow 1 — $50.00 per month: One program, one concurrent user, 75 individual records and 50 giving unit records.
Grow 2 — $75.00 per month: One program, one concurrent user, 100 individual records and 75 giving unit records. The two Grow tiers add headroom in measured increments, but retain record limits.
Core — $100.00 per month: One program and one concurrent user. It removes the published record caps of the smaller tiers, but still limits the subscription to one program and one user.
Choice — $50.00 per month: One program, one concurrent user and unlimited individual and giving unit records. This is the clearer step up for organizations constrained by record counts, though it remains a single-program, single-user plan.
Complete — $175.00 per month: Every program, unlimited concurrent users and unlimited individual and giving unit records. It is the most expansive option for organizations that need broad access and room to grow without those caps.

Mobile Receipts can be installed on unlimited personal devices, but that does not remove the concurrent-user limits for the main software. Desktop software uses concurrent licensing and can be installed on any number of computers; simultaneous access remains limited except on Complete.

Payment processing and payroll direct deposit add per-transaction charges, so organizations should include those costs in their budget. No trial or refund policy is stated, making the three-month promotion distinct from a trial guarantee.

Platforms

CDM+ offers desktop software and Apple, Google and Amazon mobile apps, alongside web access and an API. Listed platforms include Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. The combination supports office use across desktop and mobile receipt submission, while the unlimited personal-device allowance applies specifically to Mobile Receipts.

Who it's for

CDM+ is best suited to nonprofits and faith-based organizations that need fund accounting, budgeting and reconciliation alongside payroll, invoice collection or expense submission. It is particularly relevant where designated and undesignated balances, clergy payroll or multiple payer EINs matter. Smaller organizations can start at $25.00 per month, but should check whether record ceilings fit. A growing team that needs many simultaneous users or several programs is better matched to Complete than to the constrained entry tiers.

Pros and cons

Pros

Fund controls are central: Fund balances, transfers, budgets and an unchangeable audit trail support accountable nonprofit bookkeeping.
Accounting connects to operating workflows: Invoice payments feed accounting and mobile receipts go to Accounts Payable, reducing separation between these tasks.
Hosting is included across plans: Daily off-site backups and automatic upgrades are not reserved for the top tier.
Complete removes key scale limits: Unlimited programs, concurrent users and records make the upper tier suitable for larger or expanding organizations.

Cons

Starter and Grow restrict records: Individual and giving unit limits can make low-cost tiers a poor fit for organizations with larger databases.
Most plans are single-user: Extra concurrent users generally add $5 monthly, while unlimited concurrent use is reserved for Complete.
Billing is monthly ACH only for SaaS: Organizations wanting annual billing or another SaaS payment cadence will need to look elsewhere.
Payment transactions carry fees: Card, ACH and payroll direct deposit charges add costs beyond the subscription.

Verdict

CDM+ is a strong choice for nonprofits and faith-based organizations that want fund accounting, payroll and payment workflows in one hosted suite. Its fund controls and connected billing and expense handling are the clearest reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if record or concurrent-user limits make the affordable tiers too restrictive, or if annual SaaS billing is a requirement; Complete is the straightforward fit for organizations needing every program and unlimited simultaneous users.
