Overview

The suite combines antivirus, host intrusion prevention, a packet-filtering firewall, and automatic sandboxing. That breadth suits users who want controls beyond scanning alone; people seeking software for macOS, Linux, or mobile devices should look elsewhere.

Cloud antivirus scanning, behavior analysis, and whitelisting complement the core protection. Malicious Website Filtering blocks dangerous sites and allows custom block lists, including lists for family members. Comodo was established in 1998 and is headquartered in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

Key features

Auto Sandbox: Unknown files run in an isolated environment, limiting their ability to damage the computer. This is useful for users who handle unfamiliar files, though remediation automation is manual.
Firewall: The firewall can block unauthorized inbound and outbound connections, control which programs access the internet, and stealth ports. Those controls offer more network oversight than antivirus alone, but are a better fit for users willing to manage program access.
Secure Shopping: An isolated browser session includes keylogger prevention, screen-capture blocking, and SSL certificate inspection. The same isolated environment can run applications such as email clients, password managers, Excel, FTP clients, and VPN clients.
Recovery and scanning: Offline scan modes, threat quarantine, and bootable rescue media provide additional ways to address threats. These capabilities are paired with manual remediation automation.
Support: Comodo provides technical-question submission, an online help guide, and a user forum. Pro adds GeekBuddy expert support and a virus-free guarantee covering repair costs up to $500 if Comodo support cannot restore an infected PC.

Pricing

The free Comodo Internet Security Premium plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes core security features for a Windows PC. It is the sensible starting point for users who want the suite's core protection without paying, but it does not include the paid Pro support benefits.

Premium includes antivirus, firewall, security features, and updates; its price is custom pricing. It fits buyers seeking those components where a price can be arranged, but no published figure enables a direct cost comparison.

Comodo Internet Security Pro (1 device) costs 29.99 USD per year, billed $29.99 for 12 months, for one device. It is the lower-cost paid option for a single Windows PC. Comodo Internet Security Pro (3 devices) costs 39.99 USD per year, billed $39.99 for 12 months, for three devices, making it the better fit for a household covering multiple devices. Both Pro listings align with GeekBuddy support and the virus-free guarantee.

A separate Pro plan is priced at 39.99 USD per year, billed annually, and includes GeekBuddy expert support and the virus-free guarantee. Complete costs 89.99 USD per year, billed annually, and adds 50GB online storage and 10GB/month TrustConnect. Complete is for buyers who want those added services; users who only need core security have no stated reason to pay for them.

Platforms

Comodo Internet Security supports Windows. The guide lists Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7; CIS 12.0.0.6882 and later does not support Windows XP or Vista. For Windows 10, the stated requirements include 384 MB available RAM, 210 MB disk space, an SSE2-capable CPU, and Internet Explorer 5.1 or later. Older Windows users and anyone outside Windows should choose another option.

Who it's for

This is a strong fit for Windows users who want firewall controls, web filtering, and isolated execution as part of a free security suite, especially if they are comfortable making manual remediation decisions. It is less suitable for people who need supported non-Windows platforms, automatic remediation, or a set-and-forget solution.

Pros and cons

Pro: The free plan combines core security with firewall and sandboxing, so users get more than antivirus scanning alone.
Pro: Secure Shopping adds keylogger prevention, screen-capture blocking, and SSL certificate inspection for isolated sessions.
Pro: Pro's stated repair-cost guarantee reaches up to $500 if Comodo support cannot restore an infected PC.
Con: Support is limited to Windows, with newer versions excluding XP and Vista; it will not cover a mixed-platform household.
Con: Remediation automation is manual, so users should not expect threats to be handled without their involvement.
Con: Premium and Complete add services beyond core protection, and their higher cost is harder to justify for users who do not need those extras.
