Overview

Beamer brings a changelog and notification center together with tools for engaging users and collecting feedback. Teams can target announcements to selected audiences, while its Feedback product gives users a place to submit, vote on, and comment on ideas. That combination makes it more than a release-notes channel, though some feedback capabilities carry separate charges.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Beamer is offered for Android, iOS, web, and API use. It supports installation through an HTML/JavaScript embed, WordPress plugin, Google Tag Manager, or API.

Key features

Announcements and audience targeting

Boosted announcements can appear as pop-ups, top bars, snippets, or tooltips. This gives teams several ways to surface product updates rather than relying on users to find a changelog. Basic segmentation suits simpler audience splits; advanced AND/OR segmentation offers more control when targeting needs become more involved. Push notifications can also reach users who are offline on a site or app.

Feedback and integrations

The ideas portal and roadmap let users contribute suggestions and react to others' ideas. Beamer also lists in-app feedback, feature requests, NPS surveys, and sentiment analysis, but NPS and Feedback are separately priced add-ons. Integration options include Zapier, Segment, an API, webhooks, social sharing, and a WordPress plugin, giving teams several routes to connect or distribute the product.

Security and reliability

Beamer states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, encrypts data in transit and at rest, backs up customer data, and maintains service uptime above 99.9%. Those commitments may matter to teams evaluating an engagement tool for production use.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and allows 1,000 MAUs, one teammate, one language, and no API requests per month; it also carries a watermark. It is a useful way to start with a small audience, but the teammate, language, and API caps make it a limited fit for a growing or multi-person operation. Beamer advertises paid plans from $49/mo (annual) and a 14-day trial.

Starter is shown at 5949.00 USD per month, billed monthly or yearly, with 5,000 MAUs, unlimited teammates, 2,000 API requests per month, and standard support. Pro is 11999.00 USD per month, billed monthly or yearly, and raises the allowance to 10,000 MAUs and 20,000 API requests, adds 5,000 emails per month, and provides advanced support. Scale is 299249.00 USD per month, billed monthly or yearly, with 50,000 MAUs, 100,000 API requests, 20,000 emails per month, and priority support. These higher tiers suit larger audiences and heavier usage, but their displayed monthly prices are a substantial commitment.

Custom uses custom pricing and offers custom MAUs, API limits, and email volume, unlimited teammates, enterprise support, and enterprise-oriented security review and onboarding options. NPS and Feedback add-ons each cost 99.00 USD per month: NPS includes in-app, email, and linked surveys, advanced analytics, and advanced segmentation; Feedback includes in-app feedback collection and moderation, plus a public and private roadmap. Check the MAU allowance against expected usage: exceeding it automatically adds bundles at $50/month per additional 5,000 MAUs. Support ranges from basic through standard, advanced, and priority to enterprise across the plans.

Platforms

Beamer is listed for Android, iOS, web, and API use. Its installation choices—embed, WordPress plugin, Google Tag Manager, and API—give teams different ways to add it to a site or product.

Who it's for

Beamer is a strong fit for product and marketing teams that want announcements, audience targeting, and user feedback in one engagement setup. Smaller teams can begin on the free plan, while organizations with larger audiences can consider paid tiers or custom pricing. Teams that need several teammates, multiple languages, or API use should account for the free plan's strict caps; those expecting MAU growth should budget for automatic bundles.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple announcement formats and basic or advanced targeting let teams shape how and to whom updates appear.
Pros: An ideas portal and roadmap add a structured way to gather and discuss user feedback alongside announcements.
Pros: Embed, WordPress, Google Tag Manager, and API installation options accommodate different implementation approaches.
Cons: The free tier is restricted to one teammate, one language, 1,000 MAUs, and zero API requests per month.
Cons: NPS and Feedback cost 99.00 USD per month each, so teams wanting the full feedback toolkit need to budget beyond the core plan.
Cons: Automatic $50/month bundles for each additional 5,000 MAUs can raise costs as an audience grows.

Alternatives

For a lower-cost feedback-focused option, Featurebase has a free plan with one seat, unlimited conversations, and Feedback included; its free plan does not support AI. Pendo Analytics is worth considering when product analytics and in-app guides are the priority: its free tier includes 500 monthly active users and unlimited web and mobile app keys. Canny offers a free plan with 25 tracked users and unlimited feedback, a simpler entry point for a small feedback program.

Productboard is another freemium alternative, with a free tier that includes 50 AI credits per month, 500 feedback notes, 25 contributors, one teamspace, and one product portal. Sleekplan may suit teams seeking a free feedback board and changelog: its Indie plan includes unlimited feedback and subscribers, no team seats, and 1,000 announcement views per month. Tempo Portfolio Manager is a web-based alternative with a free allowance of 10 members, three projects, and 300 tasks, for readers whose needs center on project and task management.

ProdPad and Dragonboat are also alternatives to consider.

Verdict

Choose Beamer if your product or marketing team wants to publish targeted announcements and collect user ideas through a shared engagement setup. Its flexible delivery formats and multiple installation paths are the main draws. Look elsewhere if a tightly capped free tier, separately priced feedback add-ons, or MAU overage bundles do not fit your budget or scale.
