Overview

Stonly brings standard articles and interactive guides into a knowledge platform for customer service. Guides use steps and choices to direct people along paths suited to their situation, which is more adaptable than relying on one static help article for every case. Teams can place guides on web pages, help centers, and web or mobile apps through no-code triggers.

The platform also supports onboarding checklists, product tours and walkthroughs. Its knowledge base includes analytics, versioning, rights management and multimedia content. AI Answers uses structured, metadata-rich material to answer questions, surface relevant guides and support automated multi-step resolutions. Integrations include Zendesk, Salesforce, Freshworks, ServiceNow, Slack, Google Drive, Notion and Zapier.

Key features

Guides and in-context delivery

Choice-based, step-by-step guides suit troubleshooting and processes where the next instruction depends on the user's circumstances. No-code triggers let teams place those guides where people need them, including web and mobile apps. Onboarding checklists, tours and walkthroughs broaden the use beyond case resolution, though the Basic plan's five published guides may be restrictive for teams building a larger library.

Knowledge management and AI Answers

Articles and interactive guides share a knowledge base with analytics, versioning, permissions and multimedia support. That combination gives support teams one place to maintain different forms of help. AI Answers can use structured content to respond, point to relevant guides and support multi-step resolutions; teams seeking those capabilities will need to keep their knowledge organized and maintained.

Security and support

Stonly's Trust Center lists HIPAA, GDPR and a SOC 2 Type 2 report under compliance. Enterprise adds priority support and dedicated customer success, which may matter to organizations needing a higher-touch relationship.

Pricing

Stonly is freemium and offers a 14-day trial. New accounts begin with a 14-day Small Business trial, then move to Basic without charge if they do not upgrade. Basic has custom pricing if purchased, and includes 400 guide views per month, five published guides, one language, up to 100 steps per guide and one team member. That makes it a constrained starting point for an individual or small team, not a roomy plan for a growing support operation.

Small Business also has custom pricing. It includes 4,000 guide views and five team members in one knowledge base, a substantial increase in usage and collaboration capacity over Basic. Teams should note the view threshold: if monthly guide views exceed the plan limit for two consecutive months, Stonly says it will upgrade the account and provide advance email notice. That policy makes monitoring usage important, especially when traffic fluctuates.

Enterprise has custom pricing and includes unlimited knowledge bases, SSO compatibility, private knowledge bases, help desk integrations and AI Agents, as well as priority support. It is the fit for organizations that need those controls and expanded capacity, rather than teams that can operate within the smaller plans. Check the applicable guide-view limit and team capacity before choosing a plan.

Platforms

Stonly supports Android, iOS and web. Its guides can be embedded in web and mobile apps, and localization is supported, making it relevant to teams serving users across platforms and languages. Basic, however, is limited to one language.

Who it's for

Stonly is a strong match for customer-service teams that want interactive guidance, maintained help content and AI-assisted answers in one platform. It can also serve internal support representatives and teams building onboarding or product tours. It is less compelling for a team that needs a large published guide library or multiple languages on the lowest tier, or that wants to avoid a plan upgrade tied to sustained guide-view overages.

Pros and cons

Pros: Choice-based guides can tailor instructions to each situation, while no-code triggers put them in web and mobile contexts.
Pros: Articles, interactive guides, analytics, versioning, rights management and multimedia content sit within one knowledge base.
Pros: AI Answers can surface guides and support multi-step resolutions; Enterprise adds AI Agents and dedicated customer success.
Cons: Basic permits only 400 monthly guide views, five published guides, one language and one team member, limiting its usefulness for broader deployments.
Cons: Sustained guide-view overages can trigger an account upgrade, so teams need to monitor usage against plan limits.
Cons: Stonly's plans have custom pricing, making it harder to compare costs before engaging with the vendor.

Alternatives

Choose Pendo Analytics if product analytics and in-app guides for up to 500 monthly active users on its free plan are a better fit than Stonly's customer-service knowledge platform. Driver.js is a free option for unlimited projects with personal and commercial use and no attribution requirement. Consider Wakeline if its free tier of three flows, 1,000 monthly active users and one teammate fits your needs.

Baltu offers a free tier for up to 500 monthly active users and a Growth plan with A/B testing and frequency caps, so it may suit teams prioritizing those capabilities. Dock is worth considering for its free tier of workspaces, CMS assets, playbooks, courses and order forms. Flook may be preferable if widget types and custom branding are the priority; its free tier watermarks widgets.

StepBeam is an alternative for teams whose needs fit its free allowance of 1,000 monthly active users, three seats and one application. Usertour is another option to compare.

Verdict

Choose Stonly if your support team needs contextual, interactive guidance alongside a managed knowledge base and AI Answers. Its most persuasive advantage is the combination of guided resolution paths and knowledge management; its main drawback is the tight Basic capacity and the possibility of an upgrade after sustained view overages. Teams with those limits in mind can find a capable, broad support platform here, while those needing more predictable usage or lower-tier scale should compare alternatives.
