Overview

Altered Studio is a voice-production platform for creators and teams working with both recorded and live audio. It is a stronger fit for workflows that need voice transformation alongside editing and cleanup than for a single-purpose speech tool.

Its breadth is the main appeal; the desktop version requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU, and mobile devices are not supported.

Key features

Voice transformation and production

Speech-to-Speech, Performance-to-Performance morphing changes a speaker’s voice while retaining their performance. That distinction matters for creators who want a different voice without losing the original delivery. Text-to-speech, voice cloning, AI voice cleaning, denoising, audio editing, DSP effects, and batch processing make Studio a broader production workspace, though that breadth may be unnecessary if all you need is one conversion tool.

Studio supports both recorded-audio changes and real-time voice changes, with audio export for finished work. Its Rapid Voice Clone uses 4–8 seconds of audio, while custom voice models are available by contacting Altered. The short sample requirement is useful for quick local cloning; custom models are a more involved option.

Languages and integrations

Transcription and translation support 75+ languages, and text-to-speech voice-over supports 70+ languages. These separate language ranges can help with multilingual production, though the product does not claim identical coverage across those functions.

The online Voice Editor can work with audio files in Google Drive. RealTime Pro routes audio through a virtual microphone to apps including Discord, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. Altered says Google Drive access is optional and Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing application features. It also says RealTime Pro processes locally on the PC and keeps voice data on that PC; enterprise customers can use cloud computing.

Pricing

Altered Studio has a free plan, paid annual-billed plans, and a 7-day trial. The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 3 minutes per month of voice morphing, 10,000 AI Tokens, local voice cloning, and an attribution license. Noncommercial use requires credit. That cap makes Free best for occasional trials rather than ongoing morphing work.

Creator costs 30.00 USD per month (billed annually). It raises the morphing allowance to 60 minutes per month and provides 325,000 AI tokens, local voice cloning, Accent voice morphing, and Speaking Style voice morphing. This suits an individual creator with moderate monthly use, but the quota is still a hard constraint for heavier workloads.

Professional costs 90.00 USD per month (billed annually). Its 180 monthly morphing minutes, 1,000,000 AI tokens, unlimited local morphing, Flexible and Performance voice morphing, and 48kHz sample-rate output suit more demanding production. Enterprise has custom pricing and includes unlimited voice morphing and tokens, custom voice models, API access, multi-seat support, and a dedicated account manager; it is the relevant tier for teams needing integration or seats.

Platforms

Studio supports web, macOS, Windows, and API. The desktop version requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU; mobile devices are not supported. API access is offered to Enterprise customers, so it is not a standard route for lower-tier users.

Who it's for

Altered names podcasters, video game studios, and eLearning among the industries it serves. It is best suited to people producing voice content who value performance-preserving morphing and want generation, cleanup, and editing in the same toolkit. It is a poor fit for mobile-first users, and desktop buyers should check the GPU requirement before choosing it.

Pros and cons

Pros: Performance-preserving voice morphing, recorded and real-time processing, and production tools cover more of a voice workflow than conversion alone.
Pros: Transcription and translation in 75+ languages and voice-over in 70+ languages support multilingual projects.
Pros: Local processing for RealTime Pro keeps voice data on the PC, according to Altered.
Cons: Free morphing is limited to 3 minutes per month, while Creator and Professional also impose monthly morphing quotas.
Cons: The desktop requirement is specific, and mobile support is absent.
Cons: Custom voice models and API access are Enterprise offerings, not self-serve options for smaller plans.

Alternatives

For a broader shortlist, compare AI Voice Conversion Software, Game Voice Generators, AI Voice Cloning Software, AI Voice Changer Software, Voice Changer Software, and Text-to-Speech Software.

LALAL.AI is an alternative to consider if its free tier’s 10 minutes in the Relaxed Queue and 200 MB per-file upload limit suit your work; full downloads are unavailable on that tier.
Applio is a free, open-source, MIT-licensed option with no accounts or paywalls, for users who prefer that model.
IK Multimedia ReSing is another voice tool; its Free plan has 2 voices, 2 instruments, and 1 RVC import, with no model generation.
Audimee offers a web-based Free plan with 15 minutes of conversions and 11 royalty-free voices, for readers who want a browser option.
AudioPod AI has an iOS and web presence as well as API support, making it worth considering when those platforms matter.
Kits AI is a web, Windows, and API alternative with a free plan that includes voice designer/blender and Kits generative vocals.
Morphic is a web-based alternative with a Free plan limited to 20 credits and one user.
Voice Morph is an alternative to compare.

Verdict

Choose Altered Studio if you need voice transformation that preserves performance and want morphing, cloning, cleanup, and editing in one production toolkit. Look elsewhere if you need mobile support, cannot meet the desktop GPU requirement, or expect more morphing time than the plan quotas allow.
