Overview

This is a broader toolkit than a browser-only blocker: Windows has system-level filtering, Android offers per-app controls, and iOS focuses on Safari. That range suits people covering more than one kind of device, but buyers should match the platform-specific controls to their own needs rather than assume every app offers the same protection.

The maker says filtering is processed locally, browsing history is not tracked, and user data is not sold, shared, or monetized. Its security policy describes SSL/TLS for data exchanged with its servers, regular security audits, and extension permissions limited to those required. It also commits to security updates for at least three years after a product version is released and acknowledgment of vulnerability reports within three business days.

Key features

Blocking beyond the browser

The Windows app combines system-level ad and tracker blocking with phishing protection and customizable exceptions. Support covers Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11, and the minimum requirements are 512 MB RAM and 50 MB of disk space. Those modest requirements make it a plausible option for older Windows machines, while exceptions give users a way to adjust what gets blocked.

Android is the most configurable edition. It filters system-wide, supports per-app controls, malware and phishing protection, custom filter rules, and encrypted DNS through DNS-over-HTTPS, DNS-over-TLS, or DNSCrypt; users can also set custom DNS servers. The maker says filtering runs locally through an on-device VPN connection and sends no data to external servers. That combination is particularly useful for Android users who want filtering beyond browser pages, though the VPN-based implementation is specific to this platform.

Browser and iOS coverage

The iOS app blocks ads, malicious domains, and trackers in Safari, with custom filters and a whitelist. It is a narrower fit for people whose main need is Safari protection, not those seeking the same system-wide reach offered on Android or Windows.

Browser extensions are named for Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Yandex, and Edge. The maker says the extension has no predefined acceptable-ads list, leaving users to whitelist websites themselves. Custom filter lists are supported, which gives more control than a fixed blocking setup.

Pricing

AdBlocker Ultimate has a free plan and a 14-day trial. The Browser extension plan blocks ads and trackers in the browser and malicious and phishing domains. Personal covers 3 devices, while Family covers 10; both have custom pricing. These options suit users who want a smaller device allowance or household coverage, but the device count alone does not establish which platform controls are included.

The paid yearly options both cost 39.99 USD per year, billed $39.99, with a renewal price of 59.99 /year; either can be canceled anytime. Yearly — 3 devices includes three devices, free updates, and premium support, while Yearly — 10 devices includes the same benefits for ten devices. The larger tier is the clearer fit for a household or someone covering many devices; the three-device tier keeps the same annual price but limits coverage.

Lifetime — 3 devices and Lifetime — 10 devices each cost 99.99 USD per once as a one-time payment and include a lifetime license for the stated number of devices. The three-device option may suit someone who prefers a single payment, while the ten-device option increases coverage at the same price. The pricing page also describes email technical assistance and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Platforms

AdBlocker Ultimate covers Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, web, and browser extensions, with desktop-and-mobile device coverage. The named browser extensions support Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Yandex, and Edge. Windows has system-level filtering; Android adds per-app controls and encrypted DNS; iOS protection is focused on Safari. Choose by the specific platform capability you need, not simply by the broad platform list.

Who it's for

Android users who want system-wide and per-app filtering, configurable rules, and DNS choices have the strongest reason to consider it. It can also suit Windows users seeking system-level blocking and phishing protection, or multi-device buyers choosing between three- and ten-device plans. If Safari is the only concern, the iOS edition covers that browser, but its scope is less extensive than Android's.

Pros and cons

Pros: Android combines per-app controls, custom rules, and three encrypted DNS options, giving users meaningful control over system-wide filtering.
Pros: Windows adds system-level blocking and phishing protection, with support reaching back to Windows 7.
Pros: The maker says filtering is local and browsing history is not tracked, and it describes concrete security-update and vulnerability-report commitments.
Cons: iOS filtering is limited to Safari, so it is not an equivalent choice to Android's system-wide controls.
Cons: The yearly 3-device and 10-device plans share the same 39.99 USD per year price, so the smaller allowance is hard to justify for buyers who can use the larger one.
Cons: Personal and Family have custom pricing, making their cost harder to compare against the fixed-price yearly and lifetime options.

Alternatives

Ghostery is the stronger alternative for readers who prioritize a free plan, open-source software, and coverage across Linux as well as desktop and mobile platforms; its Tracker & Ad Blocker is free with no subscription required.

Blokada is worth considering for Android users who want a free option: Blokada 5 is a free ad blocker for Android 5 or newer. Its platform range also includes Linux, which AdBlocker Ultimate does not list.

Adblock Plus is another freemium option with a free plan and support across Android, browser extensions, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows. Its web extension is an open-source project under GPLv3, though some versions are not covered by that description.

AdLock may suit readers comparing fixed-price subscriptions: its one-year plan costs 39.50 USD per year for five devices, while its one-month plan costs 9.95 USD per month and is billed at $119.40/year if billed monthly.

AdNauseam is a free browser-extension option for readers who want a free product rather than multi-platform device plans.

Disconnect offers a free Basic Extension plan for one browser and a Premium plan at 5.00 USD per month, making it an alternative for readers comparing browser-focused coverage with a paid tier.

Adblock Fast is a free alternative with versions for Android, browser extensions, iOS, web, and Windows.

1Blocker is focused on extension, iOS, and macOS platforms, and offers a monthly plan at 2.99 USD per month that renews monthly.

Verdict

AdBlocker Ultimate is a good fit for Android users who want granular, system-wide filtering and for buyers who need blocking across several device types. Its local-processing and privacy commitments add reassurance, while the uneven platform controls and the identical yearly price for three and ten devices are reasons to compare plans carefully. Choose it for Android's depth and broad device coverage; look elsewhere if you need equally expansive controls on iOS or a clearly differentiated low-cost paid tier.
