What YScope CLP is

YScope CLP compresses log archives and supports searching and analysis without decompressing them first. It handles JSON and unstructured free-text logs through a web search interface and a viewer with log-level filtering. The open-source CLP edition costs nothing under the Apache-2.0 license. CLP Cloud starts at $10 a month for 25 GB of compressed logs and five compute credits per GB; extra credits cost $0.07 a month each, with one credit representing one hour on one Parallelization Unit. Deployment supports Docker Compose and Kubernetes with Helm. Archives can use AWS S3 and compatible storage such as MinIO and Ceph, although object storage currently works only with clp-json. Python and Java libraries provide real-time compression for Log4j 1, Log4j 2, and Logback. Python and Go libraries analyze CLP’s compressed representation. An API server handles queries, results, and jobs, and MCP guides cover Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Visual Studio Code. YScope is based in Toronto and was founded in 2015.

Who it suits

CLP suits teams managing large JSON or text log archives that need compressed searching, web analysis, APIs, or container deployment. It also offers cloud, self-hosted, and edge-oriented use cases.

What it does well

  • Search compressed logs without decompression
  • Open-source Apache-2.0 edition
  • Docker Compose and Kubernetes deployment
  • API for queries and job management
  • Supports JSON and free-text logs

What to know first

  • Object storage currently supports only clp-json
  • Cloud usage adds storage and compute charges
  • clp-json does not ingest unstructured text
  • Additional compute credits cost extra
