XGI

What XGI is
XGI is a free, open-source Python library for modeling, analyzing, and visualizing complex systems with higher-order group interactions. It supports undirected and directed hypergraphs as well as simplicial complexes, giving network scientists structures beyond ordinary pairwise links. The library can generate random and non-random higher-order networks from models, load and store networks in standard formats, and provide metrics and algorithms for structural analysis. A unified statistics interface calculates node and edge statistics and converts results to dictionaries, lists, NumPy arrays, or pandas dataframes. Drawing functions and node layouts support visualizations of hypergraphs and simplicial complexes. XGI is written in pure Python and is designed to interoperate with NumPy, SciPy, pandas, and Matplotlib. The XGI-DATA repository supplies datasets accessible through `load_xgi_data()`. Installation uses `pip install xgi`; the project requires Python 3.10 or newer and uses the BSD 3-Clause License.
Who it suits
XGI is designed for network scientists working with higher-order networks, hypergraphs, and simplicial complexes. It fits Python users who already use scientific libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas, or Matplotlib.
What it does well
