What Upptime is
Upptime is a free, open-source uptime monitor and status-page service built around GitHub Actions, Issues and Pages. It can check configured websites as often as every five minutes, and its documentation says there is no limit on the number of sites to track. Checks can use HTTP endpoints or TCP ports, with optional Globalping checks from specified locations. When an endpoint goes down, Upptime opens a GitHub issue and closes it automatically when service returns. By default, incidents lasting less than 15 minutes are removed from incident history. Response times are recorded in Git history and shown as long-term trend graphs on a customizable static status page, alongside current status and incident history. Alerts can go to Slack, Telegram, Discord, Zulip, Microsoft Teams, Gotify, custom webhooks, email or SMS. Sensitive values can be stored as GitHub repository secrets and limited with an explicit allowlist. The default setup uses approximately 3,000 GitHub Actions build minutes per month; public repositories receive unlimited free build minutes, while private repository minutes are billed by GitHub.
