What Unmapped is

Unmapped is a browser-based map studio for turning geographic information into videos, interactive stories, or published maps. Its timeline puts places, labels, routes, and effects into editable clips, with scenes, transitions, looping, and frame-accurate scrubbing to shape a presentation. It accepts CSV, GeoJSON, zipped Shapefiles, and GeoTIFF files, as well as live feeds for earthquakes, wildfires, and weather alerts. Visualizations can use points, heatmaps, hexbins, or 3D columns, with options to style, time, and animate the data. You can add 3D models such as landmarks, people, or storm systems and send them along a route; an AI assistant can also build scenes from a description. Exports include MP4 films up to 4K in landscape or vertical formats, interactive stories, and still images from any frame. Stories can be public, unlisted, or private, and public ones may appear in discovery surfaces. Unmapped runs in a modern desktop browser without installation. The free plan provides manual 2D editing, previews, 500 MB storage, and three branded published stories. Pro and Studio add terrain and 3D buildings, monthly credits, MCP support, and ChatGPT app integrations, with higher publishing and storage allowances on Studio.

Credits cover AI work and first-time Google Photorealistic 3D scene activation, while editing, playback, previews, publishing, and exports do not use them.
