What Tayasui Sketches is

Tayasui Sketches is a digital drawing app designed to give drawing a paper-like feel. Its tools include pencil, acrylic, watercolor, airbrush, ink and smudge brushes. Many tools respond to Apple Pencil pressure, speed, orientation and tilt. The app also has color mixing, gradients, patterns, canvas rotation and guides, plus an iPad sidebar for organizing drawings. On iPad, multitasking lets users open two apps and drag layers and documents between them.

The free version is available, while Pro features require a separate one-time purchase with no time limit. Pro adds unlimited layers, extra tool variations, an extended brush editor, wet watercolor, gradients and patterns, color mixing, iCloud sync, color palettes and extra rulers. With Pro, drawings can be exported to other apps as PNG or layered PSD files. Cloud Sync backs up drawings to iCloud and synchronizes them between devices; the FAQ says iCloud sync cannot be disabled as a measure to prevent drawing loss. Sketches is available on Android, iOS and macOS, but each version is a separate app requiring its own purchase, and drawings cannot sync between versions. Documents are limited to 12 MB, equivalent to 6000×2000 pixels. Android does not include rulers or drawing orientation changes. Tayasui says users may use their creations as they wish.

Sketches suits casual and professional graphic artists looking for drawing tools presented through an easy-to-grasp interface. It can also fit artists who want Apple Pencil-responsive tools, layer support, or Pro exports to other apps.
