ReconstructMe

What ReconstructMe is
ReconstructMe is Windows software for real-time 3D scanning and reconstruction. Move a supported sensor around a subject to create a model; the supported scale ranges from small objects such as faces to entire rooms. Scans use metric units and can be exported to STL, OBJ, 3DS, or PLY. Color can be captured and processed when the sensor supplies a color stream. The non-commercial scanning application is free. A separate C-style SDK supports real-time and multi-sensor reconstruction, OpenCL GPU scanning, and mesh tools for noise removal, hole closing, triangle reduction, and CSG operations. It also supports marker detection and tracking. In unlicensed SDK mode, scans and saved meshes are watermarked, and mesh generation is delayed by a few seconds. Hardware-accelerated real-time computing requires a recent graphics card and driver. The listed sensor families include ASUS Xtion, PrimeSense Carmine, and Microsoft Kinect; additional supported inputs include Intel RealSense R200 and F200, Orbbec Astra and Astra L, and ASUS Xtion Pro and Xtio.
Who it suits
ReconstructMe suits Windows users who need to scan objects or spaces into 3D models, including non-commercial users. Its SDK may also suit developers building reconstruction applications or multi-sensor workflows.
What it does well
- Free non-commercial scanning application
- Exports scans to STL, OBJ, 3DS, and PLY
- Supports real-time capture and mesh reconstruction
- SDK includes mesh editing operations
What to know first
- Free scanning use is non-commercial only
- Requires a recent graphics card and driver
- Unlicensed SDK output has watermarks and delays
- Supported platform is Windows

Verdict
ReconstructMe covers real-time scanning from small objects to rooms and offers several export formats. The free application is restricted to non-commercial use, while SDK use in unlicensed mode adds watermarks and delays.
