OverTake Mods

OverTake Mods is a web-based racing-game mod library with a large community wrapped around it. It suits sim racers who want downloads, discussion, events, gear shopping, and driving-analysis tools together. The free tier is useful for occasional visits, while frequent downloaders and coaching users need to judge Premium’s pricing carefully.

Overview

The downloads catalog covers cars, tracks, skins, and apps across racing games. Dependency tracking, version history, and community comments provide practical help when deciding whether a mod fits a game and whether it is still maintained. Forums, community reviews, Racing Club events, and a marketplace for second-hand sim-racing hardware make OverTake a broader community destination than a basic file directory.

OverTake says its Cologne-based service serves more than 5 million members worldwide. That scale can make community discussion and reviews more useful, although the site’s value still depends on the games and mods a reader follows. Support is directed through the Support & Contact page and the forum community.

Key features

Mods and community

Premium removes download speed limits and download restrictions, which is a meaningful advantage for users installing many mods. A free account has limited, ad-driven access, so it is better suited to occasional browsing than sustained downloading. Forums, user reviews, and Racing Club events add conversation and organized racing around the files themselves.

Coaching and gear

OverTake Turbo, powered by Track Titan, supplies lap analysis, sector tips, setups, leaderboards, and driving challenges. Premium members receive one setup free each month through Turbo. That allowance is relevant to drivers actively tuning performance, but less useful to someone who only wants car or track files. Premium members can also save up to 10% on selected premium hardware brands, while the second-hand marketplace offers another route to sim-racing equipment.

Account and data controls

The site uses HTTPS/TLS for data sent to and from it, while acknowledging that transmission security cannot be guaranteed. Users can request access to or erasure of personal data; some backups may remain for up to 90 days and some logs for up to one year. Subscriptions begun from 25 June 2025 are handled by Adyen for payments and Chargebee for subscription management.

Pricing

The free account costs nothing but trades away a fuller experience through limits and advertising. Premium yearly is the sensible fit for regular downloaders or drivers who will use Turbo, setups, races, and deals; it is billed annually. Premium monthly carries the same feature list but at €299 a month, making it a very different commitment from the yearly option. Vendors seeking promotion rather than personal mod access need the 8525.00 EUR annual plan; its stated monthly-billing equivalent is 99,99€ monthly billing per month.

Platforms

OverTake Mods is available on the web, so access is through a browser rather than a separate desktop or mobile application.

Who it's for

Choose OverTake if you play racing games and want a catalog spanning multiple titles alongside dependency information, version history, comments, forums, events, and reviews. Premium is aimed at high-volume downloaders and sim racers who will use coaching, setups, community races, or hardware discounts. The free account fits visitors who download infrequently and can tolerate advertising. It is a weaker match for someone seeking only a minimal, unrestricted file host or a catalog dedicated to one game.

Pros and cons

Pros

• Racing-focused categories cover cars, tracks, skins, and apps across games.
• Dependency tracking, version history, and comments add useful maintenance and compatibility context.
• Forums, reviews, Racing Club events, and the gear marketplace connect mod discovery with an active sim-racing community.
• Premium combines unrestricted downloads with Turbo analysis, a monthly setup, races, and selected hardware savings.

Cons

• The free account is limited and ad-driven, so regular use may push readers toward a subscription.
• Premium monthly costs €299 a month, far above the 100.00 EUR yearly plan’s annualized rate.
• Turbo’s one-free-setup monthly allowance may not satisfy drivers who need frequent bespoke tuning.
• The broad feature set is unnecessary if you only need occasional downloads from a single game.

Alternatives

For a directory of game-specific repositories, browse Game Mod Repositories.

• Factorio Mods is the better choice for Factorio users who need its dedicated portal; uploading requires a licensed copy and a Factorio.com account, with verified purchase required for portal functionality.
• Farming Simulator ModHub suits Farming Simulator players seeking free, creator-owned user content on macOS, web, or Windows.
• BaNaNaS is a free volunteer project for OpenTTD content through its website and game client.
• CurseForge is preferable for Minecraft mods and modpacks, with a free web catalog and an optional premium tier.
• DCS User Files fits DCS users who want freeware downloads and can work within its 300 MB upload limit.
• ModWorkshop offers mod sharing with no account required for downloads and no artificial download throttling.
• Thunderstore is a broad alternative covering more than 110,000 mods across 300-plus games.
• ETS2.LT provides free access to all of its mods and website features for Euro Truck Simulator 2 users.

Verdict

OverTake Mods is the strongest fit for sim racers who want a multi-game mod library alongside community racing and improvement tools. Its dependency data, discussion, events, and Turbo extras give Premium a clear role for committed users. Look elsewhere if you need only occasional downloads, dislike ad-supported limits, or want a free, game-specific repository without the unusually high monthly Premium price.
