What Nexiel Screen is

Nexiel Screen is a standalone HTTP API for screening against anti-money laundering, sanctions and politically exposed person lists. Its self-hosted matching engine uses exact, full-text, Levenshtein fuzzy and Double Metaphone phonetic methods; an AI similarity layer remains in shadow mode. Sanctions data covers OFAC SDN, the UN Security Council Consolidated List, EU FISMA and HMT UK, with daily refreshes. PEP screening combines OpenSanctions global data with direct integrations to EU institutions and national legislative registries in 21 EU countries. Possible matches always go to a human reviewer and are not automatically cleared. Each decision records the engine version, list snapshot and scoring weights, allowing the result to be re-derived later. With an evidence-pack key registered, the pack is encrypted to the customer's key and delivered once without Nexiel retaining it. Nexiel retains a decision row and related hashes; the customer is responsible for retaining screening evidence. Official TypeScript and Python SDKs cover Screen and Verify API endpoints. Production access uses OAuth 2.0 client-credentials tokens, and credentials require completing the KYB gate. Starter costs $79 a month; Growth costs $249 a month.

Who it suits

It is intended for solicitors, accountants, fintechs and other firms with AML obligations. Developers can access screening through the API or use a self-run sandbox with synthetic data.

Limits

There is no free plan. Starter costs $79 per month and uses standard rate limits; authenticated requests default to a 30-request burst and 30 requests per minute per client. Growth costs $249 per month with higher volume and rate limits, while usage beyond Growth is charged $0.40 per check.

Getting started

1. Open the Nexiel website
2. Run the self-hosted sandbox with synthetic data without an API key
3. Choose Starter or Growth, or use Enterprise overage beyond Growth volume
4. Complete the KYB gate for production credentials
5. Authenticate production requests with OAuth 2.0 client-credentials tokens
6. Integrate the TypeScript or Python SDK

Verdict

Nexiel Screen offers sanctions and PEP screening through an API with human review for possible matches. Production use requires the KYB gate, and customers retain responsibility for screening evidence.
