What Lightmorphic Text is

Lightmorphic Text is a Linux app for managing Espanso text-expansion snippets through a graphical interface. Create a snippet by entering its trigger and replacement in a form, then search across both fields as you type. Snippet options include matching whole words and matching the case used in the trigger. Advanced snippets, including dates, forms, and scripts, appear in the app as read-only.

During first-run setup, Lightmorphic Text can fetch Espanso, the text-expansion engine, if needed. It works with Espanso configuration files in `~/.config/espanso` and saves a dated copy under `~/.local/share/lightmorphic-text/backups` before changing a file. Import leaves existing files unchanged. Export can combine snippets, comments, advanced snippets, and installed packages in one backup file. On Wayland desktops, setup asks once for permission to read the keyboard; the app says it installs nothing system-wide. Lightmorphic Text is free, open-source software licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later, and its website links to GitHub for problem reports.
