What Kwave is

Kwave is a free Linux sound editor for recording, playing, opening, and editing audio files. Its multitrack tools handle fades, custom amplitude curves, volume scaling, and normalization. Frequency processing includes lowpass, bandpass, and notch filters, plus pitch shifting. Other operations let you add noise or silence, change sample rate, reverse audio, insert audio from the clipboard, and export labeled audio blocks separately. A sonagram, or spectrogram, displays audio visually. Supported formats include WAV, Ogg/Opus, Ogg/Vorbis, MP3, FLAC, ASCII coded audio, and formats supported by libaudiofile; some are import-only. Kwave is licensed under GPL-2.0+ and developed openly by an international community. Linux installation is available through Discover or other AppStream stores, distribution package managers, and Flathub. KDE provides a handbook and community forum. The Kwave plan costs nothing.
