Bandura is a desktop workspace for building AI workflows and testing APIs locally. A visual canvas and editable YAML workflows are saved as plain-text .aether files, so users can commit or share them through Git. For API tests, it chains HTTP requests, passes values between steps and checks results. Existing requests can be imported from Postman, Insomnia, OpenAPI, Bruno, HAR files and curl. AI features connect to Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Groq, OpenRouter, Together, Ollama and LM Studio; Ollama or LM Studio can run locally without an API key or sending traffic off the machine. A native CLI runs the same workflows in terminals and CI, with JUnit and GitHub annotations. A local MCP server lets compatible AI assistants work with flows. Bandura says workflows and run history remain on the user's machine, credentials use the operating system's secret store, and it collects no telemetry, analytics, crash reports or account data. Personal and commercial use is free with no account or feature tiers. A commercial licence costs $59 once per seat and includes 12 months of updates.

Who it is for

Bandura suits developers who want local API testing and AI workflows that can be shared through Git or run in CI. It may also suit users who prefer local AI models and locally stored workflow data.

What is good

  • Stores workflows and run history locally.
  • Imports requests from Postman, Insomnia, OpenAPI and more.
  • CLI runs the same workflows in terminals and CI.
  • Free plan allows personal and commercial use.
  • Credentials use the operating system secret store.

What to know first

  • Built-in scheduling is unavailable.
  • Hosted execution is unavailable.
  • Bandura has no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.
  • No third-party penetration test is listed.

Verdict

Bandura brings API testing, AI workflow building and CI execution into a local desktop workspace. Consider its lack of built-in scheduling and hosted execution, and its stated absence of external compliance attestations, before adopting it for a team.
