Anghami

Anghami is a streaming service for Arabic and international music, podcasts, and playlists. It suits listeners who want those catalogs with radio, sharing, and offline playback options across mobile, desktop, and web. Its free tier covers core discovery and listening; Plus adds practical playback controls, though lossless audio is not an option.

Overview

Founded in 2012, Anghami launched in Beirut and is now headquartered in Abu Dhabi. The service combines songs and podcasts with playlist and radio features. Its free plan is useful for listeners who want to explore, make playlists, share music, and play radios without subscribing. The trade-off is that offline downloads, ad-free listening, unlimited skips, lyrics, and rewind, replay, and scrub controls are Plus features.

Anghami says it uses personal information to recommend music and target promotions and offers. It also says personal data is confidential, is not sold or shared with third parties, and is stored using modern encryption standards. Customer questions go through its Help Center.

Key features

• Arabic and international music, podcasts, and playlists: The combination gives listeners a broad mix of audio and ways to organize and discover it.
• Plus playback tools: Offline downloads and ad-free listening suit regular listeners and commutes; unlimited skips, lyrics, and track controls offer more freedom than the free plan.
• Desktop app: A mini player, music upload, offline playback, and keyboard hot keys make the desktop app useful for listening while working at a computer.
• Car and voice support: CarPlay includes discovery, Anghami Radios, likes, playlists, and curated Personal DJ playlists. Android Auto setup requires Android 6.0 or later and the latest Anghami app. The Alexa Skill supports songs, podcasts, likes, downloads, and playlists, and is available in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
• Audio quality: Anghami lists its maximum quality as high and supports offline listening, but it does not offer lossless audio. Listeners who prioritize lossless playback should look elsewhere.

Pricing

Anghami uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs nothing and supports songs, playlist discovery and creation, sharing, and radios. It is the sensible starting point for casual listening, but it does not include the Plus benefits.

Anghami Plus has custom pricing generally, with two Egypt examples: $2.50 a month for a website bank-card monthly plan, or 69.99 EGP a month through Apple App Store or Google Play. Both examples include offline downloads, ad-free listening, unlimited skips, lyrics, and rewind, replay, and scrub controls. These are market and billing-specific examples, so readers should check the applicable offer before subscribing.

The Family Plan has custom pricing and covers 6 accounts, making it the option for a household that wants multiple logins. Student is also custom pricing and is aimed at eligible students. Anghami offers eligible new users a 14-day Plus trial through Apple App Store or Google Play; it auto-renews unless cancelled before expiry, so check the offer and cancellation terms before starting.

Platforms

Anghami supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. It also lists support for iPhone and iPad, desktop and laptop, CarPlay and Android Auto, PlayStation, wearables, TVs, Apple TV, and Chromecast. That reach helps listeners move between personal devices, cars, and home screens; Android Auto has the stated version and app requirements.

Who it's for

Anghami is a strong fit for listeners seeking Arabic and international music alongside podcasts, particularly those who want playlists and radio on a range of devices. Free users can explore and share without paying. Plus is better for people who need offline access, uninterrupted listening, or more control over playback. Its lack of lossless audio makes it a weaker fit for listeners who require that quality tier.

Pros and cons

• Pros: The free plan includes songs, radios, playlist discovery and creation, and sharing, giving new listeners room to explore.
• Pros: Plus adds offline listening, ad-free playback, unlimited skips, lyrics, and track controls for more flexible listening.
• Pros: Support spans mobile, desktop, web, cars, TVs, wearables, and Chromecast, with an Alexa Skill in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
• Cons: Lossless audio is not supported, which rules it out for listeners who require lossless playback.
• Cons: The trial renews automatically unless cancelled before its 14-day term ends.
• Cons: Family, Student, and standard Plus pricing are custom, while the two concrete monthly prices are Egypt-specific examples.

Alternatives

Compare music streaming software if you want to consider a wider set of services. Madsonic may suit listeners looking for a freemium service with a free plan and support for Linux and self-hosting. Amazon Music is worth considering for Prime members, whose membership includes its ad-free music and podcasts plan with offline listening for All-Access Playlists. Audius is a free option for streaming, uploads, and promotion, with artist-priced paid content and a 10% network fee on music sales.

Deezer offers a free ad-supported plan with over 120 million songs, a reason to compare it if catalog size is your priority. IDAGIO may be a better match if its Premium Audio plan's offline mobile playback and ad-free listening suit your needs. Playary spans songs, podcasts, movies, audiobooks, and TV shows. AWA caps its free plan at 20 hours of playback per month and offers a Standard plan with unlimited full-track playback and offline playback. Calm Radio focuses its free offering on music channels, guided sleep, guided meditation, nature sounds, and scenic videos.

Verdict

Choose Anghami if Arabic and international music, podcasts, playlists, and a capable free tier match the way you listen. Plus is the stronger choice for offline, ad-free playback and fuller track controls, while the 6-account Family Plan addresses household use. Look elsewhere if lossless audio is essential, and check the applicable price and trial renewal terms before committing.
