Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf your Fitbit tracker won’t sync, first bring it near your phone and start a manual sync in the Google Health app (formerly branded as the Fitbit app). If that fails, check Bluetooth and internet access, remove competing phone connections, then restart the phone and tracker. Re-pair only after those simpler checks.
How Fitbit syncing works
Fitbit trackers and watches send data to the Google Health app over Bluetooth Low Energy. The app then needs Wi-Fi or cellular internet to transfer that data to your account. A Bluetooth connection by itself does not complete an account sync. Google says a nearby device generally syncs automatically when you open the app; a failure commonly indicates a local connection issue, but it does not identify the cause on its own. Google explains how Fitbit devices sync their data.
These steps are for a Bluetooth-connected tracker or watch. Fitbit Aria Air also uses Bluetooth, but Aria and Aria 2 scales use Wi-Fi and need a different troubleshooting path.
Try these fixes in order
1. Bring the tracker close and request a manual sync
- Keep the tracker close to your phone and open the Google Health app.
- On the Today tab or the device connection screen, pull down until the sync progress indicator appears. Google also documents the path Connections → Sync.
- Check whether the device’s “last synced when” information updates.
If the manual sync works, the tracker and app can communicate; automatic syncing may still be affected by phone settings or background restrictions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Check Bluetooth and internet access
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the phone and that the phone has Wi-Fi or cellular internet access. Turn Bluetooth off, wait several seconds, then turn it back on and try syncing again. Bluetooth handles the nearby tracker-to-phone link; internet access lets the app send data to your account. Google’s iPhone and iPad troubleshooting guide and Android troubleshooting guide cover platform-specific connection checks.
3. Check for a second phone or an old pairing
A Fitbit device can sync with only one device at a time. If another nearby phone is signed into the same account and has the Google Health app or an old pairing for this tracker, remove the app and pairing from that phone as directed by Google’s iPhone or Android guide. On Android, remove competing Bluetooth pairings when the guide calls for it. Don’t delete unrelated Bluetooth devices indiscriminately.

4. Check app and phone settings
- Force quit the Google Health app, open it again, and check that it is up to date.
- Confirm the phone allows Bluetooth access and lets the app run in the background.
- On Android, check whether background data is restricted. Power-saving settings and location permissions can also matter during setup.
Settings names and paths vary by Android version and manufacturer. Google’s Android app guide describes relevant app behavior and settings.
5. Restart the phone and tracker
Restart the phone and Fitbit separately, then open the app and try a manual sync. Use the restart instructions for your exact model: button and charging-cable procedures are not universal. Google says restarting does not delete fitness data. Its device charging and restart guidance lists a specific cable restart sequence for some models.

For Charge 5, Charge 6, Luxe, and Luxe Special Edition, Google’s listed method is to connect the tracker to its charging cable, press the small button on the flat end of the cable three times, exactly one second apart, then wait roughly ten seconds for the Fitbit logo. This procedure is for those named models; don’t apply it to another tracker without checking that model’s instructions.
6. Remove and set up the tracker again
If the checks and restart do not restore syncing, remove the tracker from the Google Health app, forget or unpair it in the phone’s Bluetooth settings, then reconnect it through the app’s add or setup flow. Do not start setup from the phone’s Bluetooth screen; Google directs users to set up the Fitbit through the app. See Google’s setup troubleshooting instructions.

Reinstalling the app is a later option, not the first one to try. If you use an iPhone or iPad, check that your iOS version is still supported before deleting the app; an unsupported device may not be able to reinstall it.

If manual sync still fails after the relevant phone-specific checks, restart, and app-based re-pairing, contact Google/Fitbit Customer Support. A factory reset is not a general first-line fix for a sync problem, so don’t erase the tracker’s data unless support or model-specific instructions tell you to.
