Choose the release before comparing its tiers: World of Warcraft: Midnight is a modern WoW expansion sold in Base, Heroic, and Epic editions, while World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate experience scheduled to launch November 4, 2026. Forever access is included with an active WoW Subscription or Game Time; its Skyborne packs and Collection are optional upgrades. This guide explains what to compare before choosing a release, including what each package adds, what it does not include, and how the physical Collector’s Edition differs.
First decide which Warcraft release you mean
These editions are not tiers of one purchase. Midnight is a modern WoW expansion. Buying it does not provide ongoing access by itself: a WoW Subscription or Game Time is required, and future expansions are not included. Its Base, Heroic, and Epic editions bundle different digital extras with the expansion.
World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate upcoming experience. Blizzard says it launches globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST, and access will be included with a WoW Subscription or Game Time. Its Skyborne Heroic and Epic packs, and the Warcraft Forever Collection, are optional upgrades rather than separate access requirements. The Epic Pack and Collection include 30 days of Game Time starting at launch; playing after that period requires a subscription or additional Game Time. Compare Midnight’s Base, Heroic, and Epic editions
Each Midnight tier builds on the one below it. The useful question is whether you value the additional items, time-limited access, or Game Time enough to choose a higher tier.

Compare Forever’s optional Skyborne packs and Collection
Forever’s access comes through an active subscription or Game Time. The following packages are upgrades, not substitutes for checking that access requirement.

Blizzard’s Forever upgrade announcement describes the pack benefits and restrictions. The beta announcement gives the beta dates. The offer end date is a listed term, not a guarantee of availability in every region.

The Forever Collector’s Edition is a physical keepsake option, separate from the digital upgrade comparison. Blizzard describes it as physical collectibles plus a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection, sold through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last. It is not a required purchase to play. Check the store serving your region for current stock, shipping, and price. Blizzard’s Collector’s Edition announcement identifies the contents and sales channel.

Check the restrictions that can change a tier’s value
- Subscriptions and future releases: Midnight requires a subscription or Game Time, and its purchase does not include future expansions. Forever’s Epic Pack and Collection provide 30 days of Game Time from launch, not continuing access after those 30 days.
- Modern WoW versus Classic: Midnight’s boost and in-game items are not available in WoW Classic. Forever bundle items are also unavailable in Classic. Its housing decor is for Housing in modern WoW, which requires Midnight.
- Account unlocks: A Midnight Heroic or Epic upgrade does not grant items again if they are already unlocked on the account.
- Invites and names: Forever invite codes and early name reservation have account, timing, and eligibility restrictions. Do not treat codes as unrestricted gifts or a reserved name as guaranteed.
- Region and price: The official edition descriptions establish contents and timing, not a dependable region-by-region price comparison. Confirm the amount, availability, and offer terms in your local Battle.net Shop; do not assume a listed offer or physical item is available everywhere.
A practical way to choose
- Pick the release. Decide whether you are buying the Midnight expansion or an optional upgrade for World of Warcraft: Forever.
- Confirm access. For Midnight, account for the required subscription or Game Time. For Forever, confirm your subscription or Game Time will cover access after any included 30-day period.
- List the extras you will actually use. For Midnight, compare Trader’s Tender, the boost, Housing Early Access, mount and transmog, beta, early access, cosmetics, and Game Time. For Forever, compare the Skyborne race and start, decor, invite codes, beta, Game Time, and—in the Collection—Warcraft III: Reforged and its campaign.
- Check restrictions and local terms. Make sure the items apply to the WoW version you play, then verify current regional pricing, stock, and dates in Blizzard’s shop or Gear Store.
