Choose Angular if you want an integrated framework with first-party conventions and tooling; choose React if you want its component-based UI model and prefer to select the surrounding tools; choose Vue if its progressive approach and foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fit your team. None is universally best. Existing code, team skills, application requirements, and support plans can outweigh those starting preferences.
Angular vs. React vs. Vue at a glance
| Framework | Documented approach | Consider it when | Plan for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Angular | An integrated framework with components, signals, dependency injection, routing, forms, CLI tooling, and server-side rendering and static generation. | You want a broader first-party platform and a more convention-led starting point. | Assess its learning prerequisites and whether its conventions suit the team and project. |
| React | A component-based UI library model using JavaScript functions, commonly JSX, props, and Hooks such as useState. |
You want to compose UI with React and choose the surrounding libraries and conventions to fit your application. | You must make those surrounding choices, including how the project handles CSS. |
| Vue 3 | A progressive framework for declarative, component-based interfaces built on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; it supports Options and Composition API styles. | You want to adopt a framework progressively and its programming model and ecosystem fit your project. | Check which ecosystem libraries and conventions your application needs, including Vue Router and Pinia where appropriate. |
This is a comparison of documented scope and programming models, not a measured ranking. The framework documentation does not establish a matched performance winner, comparable adoption rates, or a region-specific hiring leader.
How to decide for your project
Start with the codebase and team
- Inventory existing application code, reusable components, and integrations. Replacing a working stack has migration and delivery costs that a greenfield comparison does not capture.
- List the team’s experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, templates, JSX, and the framework’s relevant patterns. Familiarity is project-specific; the documentation does not prove one framework is inherently easiest.
- Consider onboarding and maintenance: who will own architecture, dependencies, testing, and upgrades after the initial build?
- Treat hiring as a local question. These sources do not compare hiring pools by region, so verify candidate availability where you plan to recruit rather than assuming a market leader.
Write down application requirements
Before choosing, check the current guidance for the exact framework versions under consideration. Make a short requirements list covering routing, forms, state management, rendering and deployment, testing, accessibility, internationalization, security practices, and upgrade expectations. Then distinguish requirements the framework provides or documents from decisions your team will make with other libraries or conventions.
Use these defaults, then check their assumptions
- Start with Angular when an integrated first-party platform and its conventions are a good fit for your team’s architecture and workflow.
- Start with React when the component/UI model suits the application and the team is comfortable choosing its surrounding tools.
- Start with Vue when its progressive approach and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript foundation fit the way the team wants to build, and its ecosystem meets the requirements.
- Override any default when an existing codebase, team expertise, delivery constraint, required integration, or support plan points elsewhere.
What each framework asks of the team
Angular: a broad, integrated framework
Angular’s official documentation presents a framework maintained by a dedicated Google team, with components, signals, dependency injection, routing, forms, CLI tooling, development tools, security features, server-side rendering and static generation, and documented release and support practices. That breadth makes Angular a reasonable candidate when a team prefers first-party capabilities and conventions in one framework. It is not evidence that Angular is more reliable, scalable, or faster than the alternatives.
#1 Best Overall
Angular’s Essentials guide expects familiarity with HTML, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript classes, and TypeScript decorators. Those are prerequisites for that guide, not a comparative measurement of how hard Angular is to learn.
React: compose the UI, select the surrounding tools
React’s Quick Start explains UI as components: JavaScript functions that return markup. JSX is common in React projects but optional. The guide introduces Hooks, including useState, for state, and props for passing data; shared data can be moved to a common parent and passed down. React does not prescribe how a project adds CSS files.

- Comes with secure packaging
- It can be a gift option
This flexibility leaves practical choices to the project: how to organize styles, routing, forms, data and state, rendering, and other needs. Decide who owns those choices and how they will be documented; flexibility does not remove the need for an application architecture.
Vue 3: a progressive framework on web fundamentals
Vue describes itself as a JavaScript framework for building interfaces with a declarative, component-based model based on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Its documentation covers both the Options API and Composition API. The official ecosystem includes Vue Router and Pinia, with guidance for areas such as testing, server-side rendering, accessibility, performance, security, and TypeScript.

Vue 2 support ended on 2023-12-31. If you maintain a Vue 2 application, consult Vue’s migration guidance and evaluate your own support requirements separately; do not assume Vue 3 and Vue 2 have the same support status.
Validate close calls with the same small workflow
When documentation and team preference do not settle the choice, build a small representative feature in each finalist. This is a way to gather project-specific evidence, not a benchmark performed for this comparison.

- Choose one workflow that exercises real requirements, such as a form with validation, navigation, shared state, and a data-loading state.
- Give each implementation the same acceptance criteria, target browsers, sample data, and deployment assumptions.
- Have the people who would maintain the production app implement or review each version. Record setup friction, integration work, clarity of the resulting code, and onboarding questions.
- Check user-visible performance under the same conditions and with the same measurement method. Do not compare unrelated demos or treat a single run as a general framework ranking.
- Review tests, accessibility, security practices, rendering needs, and the likely upgrade path against current guidance for the exact versions.
- Make the choice against your requirements and team constraints, recording why you accepted the trade-offs.
Keep frontend screenshot checks separate from the framework decision
Angular, React, and Vue are frameworks or UI technologies; ScreenshotNeo is not a substitute for any of them. If your team needs website screenshots for visual checks or other development workflows, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first: it offers a screenshot API and MCP server, and reports whether a page was billed. Make the decision from the application you have to build and the team that will maintain it. Angular is the integrated-platform starting point, React the UI model with surrounding choices left to the project, and Vue the progressive framework grounded in standard web technologies. Verify the details against current documentation and validate close calls with the same representative workflow.
