Hostphase’s Instant, Custom and GPU server options are presented as a choice between faster provisioning, more control over hardware, and accelerator-focused computing. The available comparison comes from a TechBullion article published October 2, 2026; its Hostphase configurations, prices and service claims have not been independently verified against a current provider catalog. Treat the figures below as reported details, not confirmed live offers.

What the three server options are for

TechBullion describes Instant and Custom as dedicated-server families, with GPU servers configured for workloads that benefit from accelerators. It also discusses cloud VPS/VDS as a virtual alternative for lighter jobs. The practical distinction is not simply “which server is most powerful”: it is whether your workload fits a fixed configuration, needs particular components, or depends on GPU compute.

Option Best fit Trade-off described by TechBullion
Instant A workload that fits a listed configuration and needs quick provisioning. Selection is limited to a fixed menu; reported deployment is about 12 minutes.
Custom A workload that needs a particular CPU, memory, or storage combination. More configuration flexibility, but reported delivery is 24 to 72 hours.
GPU Accelerator-dependent work such as suitable AI or parallel-compute workloads. Build-dependent configuration and price; choosing a GPU requires checking memory and workload compatibility.
Cloud VPS/VDS Lighter services that do not require dedicated physical hardware. Virtual rather than dedicated resources; compare isolation and total cost with the workload’s needs.

All deployment times and product descriptions in this table are reported by Victor Miller’s TechBullion article, not independently confirmed current Hostphase terms. Read the TechBullion comparison.

How Instant and Custom compare on reported hardware

The clearest distinction in TechBullion’s reported specifications is the upper memory and drive capacity. These are category ceilings cited in the October 2, 2026 article, not a guarantee that any particular build is available now.

Reported characteristic Instant Custom
Physical CPU cores Up to 128 (TechBullion, 2026) Up to 128 (TechBullion, 2026)
System memory Up to 768 GB (TechBullion, 2026) Up to 1,152 GB (TechBullion, 2026)
Drive count Up to four (TechBullion, 2026) Up to ten (TechBullion, 2026)
NVMe storage Not stated in the cited article Up to 80 TB (TechBullion, 2026)
Provisioning or delivery About 12 minutes (TechBullion, 2026) 24 to 72 hours (TechBullion, 2026)

Choose Instant conditionally: it makes sense when a menu configuration meets the workload and the reported speed matters more than component-level choice. Consider Custom if memory, drive count, storage capacity or a specific component mix exceeds what the Instant menu offers. Before relying on any ceiling or delivery estimate, confirm the exact build and lead time with Hostphase.

When a GPU server is worth considering

A GPU build is relevant when software can use GPU acceleration and the workload is constrained by parallel compute. A GPU’s name alone does not establish suitability: available GPU memory, system RAM, storage throughput and software support all affect whether a configuration can handle the job.

Match GPU memory to the workload

TechBullion estimates that a 70-billion-parameter model at 16-bit precision needs roughly 140 GB of GPU memory before overhead, and about 35–40 GB at 4-bit precision. These are the article’s estimates, not a cited benchmark or a complete deployment requirement. Actual needs depend on the model, runtime, context length, batching and other overhead; allow for those factors rather than treating the estimate as a guaranteed minimum.

Check the whole data path

  • Confirm that the framework and workload support the specific accelerator and software stack offered.
  • Estimate GPU memory needs for the actual model or job, including runtime overhead.
  • Size system RAM and storage to feed the accelerator and hold the data and checkpoints involved.
  • Ask for the precise GPU model, GPU-memory capacity, system-memory configuration and storage details for the proposed build.

TechBullion characterizes GPU pricing as build-dependent, so a generic starting price is not enough to compare accelerator configurations. Request a quote for the full specification and billing term.

Reported prices, locations and service terms

TechBullion’s October 2, 2026 article reports dedicated servers starting at $0.094 per hour and cloud VPS/VDS starting at $0.018 per hour. It describes GPU pricing as build-dependent. These are article-reported starting prices, not independently verified current rates; the article does not establish which configurations qualify, whether the rates recur unchanged, or what minimum billing commitments apply.

The same article reports discounts of up to 31% on fixed-term dedicated plans and up to 50% on virtual plans, plus up to 100 TB of free egress. It also reports U.S. and Hong Kong locations, a 99.99% network uptime SLA, a 15-day money-back period and average support responses near 45 seconds. These claims should be checked against current official terms before purchase; in particular, confirm what the SLA measures and excludes, how egress is counted, and the conditions attached to discounts and refunds. How to choose for your workload

  1. Define the workload. Identify required CPU capacity, RAM, storage type and capacity, network needs, and whether the software can use GPUs.
  2. Check fit against the Instant menu. If a listed configuration meets the requirements and rapid provisioning is important, compare its actual availability and delivery estimate with the alternatives.
  3. Move to Custom when the configuration demands it. If required memory, drive count or component selection falls outside the available Instant choices, request the custom specification and lead time.
  4. Request a GPU build only for accelerator-capable work. Provide the workload details and verify GPU model, memory, software compatibility, system RAM and storage together.
  5. Consider VPS/VDS for lighter supporting services. A virtual instance may suit ancillary services that do not need dedicated hardware; compare its resource limits and isolation with the requirements of each service.
  6. Confirm the commercial and operational terms. Verify current stock, location, hourly versus fixed-term billing, bandwidth and egress rules, deployment estimate, support terms, and cancellation or refund conditions directly with the provider before committing.
