driver.save_screenshot("table.png") captures the current browser window, not automatically the full length of a dynamic table. First ensure the needed rows have loaded; then capture the table element if it fits, or scroll the correct container and save overlapping screenshots. Check the final image against the table’s last row or known row count.
Choose the capture method for your table
- The whole table fits on screen: locate the table and save an element screenshot.
- The table is taller than the viewport: capture overlapping viewport screenshots as you scroll.
- Scrolling loads more rows: repeat the scroll-and-wait cycle until the expected final row or end condition appears.
- The table uses pagination or virtualization: a screenshot of one view cannot show rows that are on another page or have not been rendered. You will need page-specific navigation or multiple captures.
Selenium’s screenshot and scrolling methods provide the building blocks, but the correct loading signal and scroll target depend on the site. The Selenium documentation describes WebDriver behavior; its API does not define a universal wait condition for an arbitrary table.
Wait for the table and identify what scrolls
Wait for the table or its loading indicator using a condition tied to the page, rather than relying on a fixed sleep. Then determine whether the page scrolls or the table is inside a separately scrolling element. Scrolling the document will not advance an inner container.
These Selenium Python primitives scroll the document, bring a located element into view, capture the current browser window, or capture one element:

These are primitives, not a complete solution for every dynamic table. The Selenium Python quick reference covers window and element screenshots as well as JavaScript scrolling: Python quickstart. The Python API reference documents current-window screenshots and synchronous JavaScript execution.
Capture a table that fits in one image
When all rows are rendered and the table’s dimensions are manageable, use the table element’s screenshot() method. Bring it into view first if necessary. This captures the element, not rows that have not been rendered, and an unusually large element may still be awkward to inspect or handle. Verify that the resulting image includes the first and last expected rows.

Capture a tall table in overlapping segments
For a table extending beyond the visible viewport, save successive window screenshots while scrolling through the relevant content. Use overlap so a row boundary is not cut at the bottom of one image and omitted from the next. A basic document-scroll loop can save successive captures:
import time
# Assumes driver and table are already available and the table has settled.
viewport_height = driver.execute_script("return window.innerHeight")
table_top = driver.execute_script(
"return arguments[0].getBoundingClientRect().top + window.scrollY", table
)
table_bottom = driver.execute_script(
"return arguments[0].getBoundingClientRect().bottom + window.scrollY", table
)
overlap = 100
step = max(1, viewport_height - overlap)
position = table_top
part = 1
while position < table_bottom:
driver.execute_script("window.scrollTo(0, arguments[0])", position)
# Replace this pause with a condition-based wait if scrolling loads content.
time.sleep(0.2)
driver.save_screenshot(f"table-part-{part}.png")
position += step
part += 1
This example is suitable only when the document is the scrolling surface and the table’s measured bounds remain stable. For a table in a scrollable container, scroll that container instead and calculate progress from its scroll position and client height. If scrolling changes the rendered rows or table dimensions, recalculate bounds and wait for the content to settle after each movement.

Handle lazy loading and virtualized rows
A lazy-loaded table may fetch additional rows as you move down. Scroll in increments, wait for a relevant signal—such as an increased row count or disappearance of a loading indicator—and repeat. Stop only when the site’s end condition is reached and the final expected row is present. A single scroll to the document bottom can be too early if more rows load afterward.
Virtualized tables commonly render only the rows near the visible area, replacing earlier rows as you scroll. In that case, neither one element screenshot nor one full-page capture proves every row is present. Capture overlapping sections while progressing through the table, or use the application’s export or pagination mechanism if the requirement is complete data rather than a visual record. The exact strategy depends on the table implementation.

Verify that no rows are missing
- Compare the captured coverage with a known row count or the expected final row.
- Check each segment’s overlap for clipped or duplicated boundaries.
- Confirm that a load-more action, spinner, or page transition has completed before continuing.
- For nested scrolling, verify that the inner container’s scroll position changes; if it does not, the script is moving the wrong element.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Only visible rows appear | save_screenshot() captures the current browser window. |
Capture the table element if it fits, or save overlapping screenshots while scrolling. |
| Scrolling reaches the page bottom but not the table’s end | The table has its own scrollable container. | Scroll the container rather than window; verify its scroll position advances. |
| Later rows are absent | Rows load on scroll, or the script moved on before loading finished. | Wait for a table-specific change or loading indicator, then continue until the final row appears. |
| One capture contains only a subset of rows despite scrolling | The table may virtualize rows or paginate results. | Capture each visible segment or page and verify coverage; use an export for complete data when appropriate. |
| The first or last row is clipped between images | There is no overlap between successive viewport captures. | Reduce the scroll step so each screenshot overlaps the preceding one, then inspect row boundaries. |

For a static page, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot with one GET request. For a dynamic table that loads additional rows on scroll, use Selenium to reach and verify those rows first; a screenshot API cannot reveal content the page has not loaded.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Frequently Asked Questions
Does Selenium’s save_screenshot() capture the entire page?
No. It saves the current browser window; it does not automatically expand the capture to include content outside the viewport.
Can Selenium save a screenshot of just the table?
Yes. Locate the table element and call its screenshot("table.png") method. Rows that are not rendered still will not appear.
Will one screenshot include every row of a virtualized table?
Not necessarily. Virtualized tables may render only the rows near the current view, so capture successive views and verify the full row range.
