The exact menu path depends on whether you use Chrome, Samsung Browser, or Firefox. Clearing cache may help with a loading or formatting problem, but it is not a guaranteed fix.
What clearing the browser cache does
A browser cache stores page resources such as images so they can load faster on a later visit. Clearing it removes those stored files; the next visit may take longer as the browser downloads them again. It can also prompt a site to fetch a fresher version of page content.
Cookies and site data are different from cached files. They can store sign-in sessions, preferences, and other information. If you want a cache-only clear, select only the cache category and review the choices before confirming.
Clear the cache in Chrome for Android
- Open Chrome and tap More (the three dots) beside the address bar.
- Tap Delete browsing data.
- Choose a time range. If the category choices are not visible, open the detailed options.
- Select Cached images and files. Leave cookies and site data, browsing history, and other categories unchecked unless you intend to delete them too.
- Tap Delete data and confirm if prompted.
You can also reach the controls through More > Settings > Privacy and security > Delete browsing data. Menu wording and layout can vary by Chrome release and device language.

Check the other Chrome categories before deleting
Chrome’s detailed dialog can include browsing history, open tabs, cookies and site data, saved passwords, autofill data, and site settings. Deleting history can close open tabs; deleting passwords or autofill removes those saved items, and removing site settings changes permissions and preferences. Google also notes that data associated with a Google Account may be removed from other devices where you are signed in, depending on the selected data and account or sync context. Check the categories and account context before proceeding.
Clear the cache in Samsung Browser
- Open Samsung Browser and tap More options (the three dots).
- Tap Settings > Personal browsing data > Delete browsing data.
- Select Cached images and files. Leave cookies and site data, history, passwords, and autofill unchecked for a cache-only clear.
- Tap Delete data, then tap Delete to confirm.
Samsung’s US support guidance notes that clearing selected browser data can require signing in to websites again. Available controls may differ by software version.

Clear the cache in Firefox for Android
- Open Firefox and tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap Settings.
- Under Privacy and security, tap Delete browsing data.
- Select Cached images and files, leaving unrelated categories unchecked.
- Tap Delete browsing data to confirm.
Firefox presents other choices separately, including open tabs, history and site data, cookies and site data, site permissions, and downloads. It also offers an optional Delete browsing data on quit setting for selected categories; that preference is not needed for a one-time cache clear.
Browser cache versus Android app cache
For a website display problem, start with the browser’s cache-only control above. Android’s app-level cache setting is a separate control: it applies to the app’s stored data, not just the browser’s cached website files.

On Galaxy devices, Samsung documents this route: Settings > Apps, select the app, tap Storage, then choose Clear cache. Do not casually choose Clear data: Samsung warns that it resets the app and removes personal settings or saved data. The route and available options can vary by Android and software version.
If clearing cache does not fix the page
- Only one website has a problem: the issue may be specific to that site. Check whether the site works in another browser or at another time.
- Several websites fail: check your internet connection and try loading another page.
- The page is still blank or incorrectly formatted: cache clearing is only a possible remedy. Google lists network, device settings, software, browser, and website problems among possible causes of Chrome loading errors.
- You were signed out: check whether cookies or site data were selected along with the cache. Sign in again if needed.
- The first visit is slower: that can happen while the browser downloads cached images and other page resources again.
