A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11For most creators, OBS Studio is the better starting point if you need free software or use macOS or Linux; XSplit Broadcaster is worth considering if you use Windows and prefer its guided workflow or a specific premium feature. Neither guarantees a 24/7 stream. YouTube supports continuous encoder streams, but uptime also depends on your computer, power, network, settings, and recovery plan.
Can XSplit or OBS stream to YouTube continuously?
Yes. YouTube supports encoder-based live streaming, including 24/7 continuous streams, and lists XSplit Broadcaster among its encoder options. That establishes platform compatibility, not a promise that either application—or your computer, electricity supply, or internet connection—will stay online without interruption. See YouTube’s live encoder help.
An encoder sends video from your computer to YouTube’s ingest service. OBS notes that it does not supply streaming servers; a dropped stream can involve the path between your computer and the destination, not just the encoder. For a channel that must remain live, test the complete setup at the actual location rather than treating software compatibility as an uptime guarantee.
Which should you choose?
| Need | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| macOS or Linux | OBS Studio | OBS documents support for Windows, macOS, and Linux; XSplit Broadcaster’s stated requirements are Windows 10/11 64-bit. |
| Free, open-source software without a watermark | OBS Studio | OBS is free and open source. Its help portal says it has no watermark or commercial-use restriction. |
| Windows with XSplit’s particular workflow or premium features | XSplit Broadcaster | XSplit offers native platform integrations, custom RTMP, and premium multistreaming. Check current licensing and whether the feature you need is paid. |
| Proven uninterrupted operation | Neither by name alone | Both need a suitable computer, stable sustained upload, reliable power, correct settings, and a tested recovery plan. |
Operating system and licensing
OBS Studio
OBS supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is free and open source, with no watermark or commercial-use restriction according to the OBS help portal. Its scene-based production and configurable audio and video options suit creators who want control, though configuring and validating a setup takes hands-on work. Begin with OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard, then test the actual scene and stream.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
XSplit Broadcaster
XSplit’s published requirements specify Windows 10/11 64-bit. XSplit offers a free tier and paid licenses. Its product page says free streaming up to 720p is watermark-free and a logo is added above that resolution; its support FAQ also lists limits, including a maximum of four scenes on the free license. Confirm current terms, feature availability, and price on XSplit’s Broadcaster page and XSplit’s free-license FAQ before choosing it, particularly for a commercial channel.
System requirements are a starting point, not a 24/7 guarantee
XSplit’s published baseline
XSplit Support’s current system-requirements page lists a minimum second-generation Core i5 or equivalent, 8 GB RAM, and a GeForce or Radeon-class GPU with DirectX 10.1 or better. It lists 500 kbps minimum upload for streaming at its lowest settings. XSplit’s product page recommends a fourth-generation Core i5 for 720p and a fourth-generation Core i7 for 1080p, with 5 Mbps upload recommended for HD. These are XSplit’s published requirements and recommendations, not assurances for every scene, codec, concurrent workload, connection, or long-running session. See XSplit’s system requirements and its product page.

OBS system capability
OBS lists basic operating-system and graphics requirements, but warns: “Having a compatible system does not guarantee that it is capable of streaming or recording using OBS Studio.” CPU requirements vary with encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Use a configuration test on the machine you intend to leave running; a machine that meets minimum requirements may still struggle with your actual production. See OBS System Requirements.
Set up either encoder for a reliable YouTube test
- Check YouTube access and stream status. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live and configure the stream. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain how to connect an encoder and use a stream key. Treat the key as a password: keep it private, and replace it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Choose the encoder workflow. In OBS, run Tools > Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point, then configure the scene, audio, and output. In XSplit, set up the scene and YouTube/custom RTMP connection using the current in-app controls. Labels and options can change with software versions.
- Set a conservative output for the measured connection. Do not infer a safe bitrate from an advertised broadband plan or a national average. OBS says bitrate should fit the connection’s stable upload capacity; its troubleshooting guidance offers 75% of total upload speed as a starting point, not a guarantee. Keep within YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance and reduce bitrate if the stream drops frames.
- Use a wired connection where practical. OBS recommends wired networking because Wi-Fi may be unstable. An Ethernet cable can remove one wireless link from the streaming PC’s path, but cannot prevent an ISP outage, router failure, or power cut.
- Run a long-duration test. Observe encoder load, dropped frames, YouTube’s stream health, audio, and whether the session recovers after an interruption. A brief successful preview does not establish that the same setup will hold through a full day or overnight.
- Plan for recovery. Know how to restart the encoder, reconnect the stream key, and confirm the broadcast is live again. YouTube ingestion and the encoder are separate from local power and internet access, so identify which part failed before changing settings.
OBS’s connection guidance explains that unstable connectivity or a bitrate beyond the connection’s capacity can cause dropped frames. There is no India-wide upload-speed or uptime rule established by these sources: evening congestion, the ISP route to YouTube, local Wi-Fi, and electricity conditions must be checked where you will stream. See OBS’s dropped-frames troubleshooting.

What matters specifically for an Indian channel?
The comparison does not turn on a single India-specific software setting. The available requirements and network advice above are not measurements of Indian ISPs, power reliability, or local performance. Test sustained upload at the streaming location—especially during the hours you plan to broadcast—and watch YouTube’s stream health during a long run. If the PC relies on Wi-Fi, try wired Ethernet and compare behavior; neither a cable nor a speed-test result alone proves continuous service. Power backup needs depend on your computer and networking equipment, the interruptions at your location, and the runtime you require, so choose only after establishing those details.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is the cloud alternative to a computer running OBS or XSplit. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It is for YouTube and uploaded video, not a live camera feed.

- Choose OBS if you need macOS or Linux support, want free open-source software, or prefer flexible scene and output configuration.
- Choose XSplit if you use Windows and value its guided workflow or a particular premium feature enough to accept the license terms that apply to it.
- Choose neither on the assumption of guaranteed uptime. Validate the computer, sustained connection, power arrangements, and recovery process at the location where the stream will run.
These are workflow and feature-based recommendations, not a claim that one encoder is more stable than the other. The sources do not establish which will achieve higher 24/7 uptime in a particular Indian home or studio.
