If you want a prerecorded YouTube channel to stay live around the clock, start with a purpose-built cloud looping service. StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Other options suit different needs, from scheduled broadcasts and multistreaming to configurable streaming infrastructure.
One naming caveat matters: current Wowza pages describe Wowza Streaming Engine and other offerings, but the available information does not establish that their plans or pricing are interchangeable with the older product name “Wowza Streaming Cloud.” Confirm which Wowza service you use before planning a replacement.
Which alternative fits an always-on YouTube channel?
First distinguish a prerecorded loop from a live camera or program feed. The cloud looping services below are aimed at uploading prerecorded video and keeping it live on YouTube. Wowza Streaming Engine is broader infrastructure for ingest, processing, and delivery; it is not a like-for-like managed looping service.
| Option | Best fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Continuous YouTube streams made from uploaded videos or playlists, operated in the cloud. | Required slot count and storage; its slot includes 10 GB, pooled across active slots. |
| Gyre | Cloud streaming of prerecorded content to supported destinations. | Concurrent stream count, destinations, resolution, storage, playlists, scheduling, and billing term. |
| OneStream Live | Scheduled prerecorded broadcasts and broader multistreaming, with a documented YouTube-only 24/7 mode. | Whether the 24/7 feature is available on your account as an add-on or requires Enterprise, and its stream limit. |
| Castr | A broader streaming and playout workflow that may include hosting and monetization. | The exact plan for 24/7 playout, bandwidth, concurrent streams, destinations, and SLA terms. |
| StreamYard | People-forward live shows, guests, and studio-style multistreaming. | Whether its prerecorded-stream duration limit fits your use; the surfaced Core plan lists a two-hour limit. |
| Wowza Streaming Engine | Customizable streaming infrastructure where deployment and operational control matter. | Hosting, protocols, transcoding, scale, APIs, support, and total infrastructure cost. |
| DIY PC or VPS | Operators willing to run and maintain a continuous encoder or server themselves. | Power and network reliability, encoding capacity, restart monitoring, redundancy, and maintenance effort. |
For a prerecorded YouTube loop with minimal local operations, begin with StreamNeo or Gyre. Consider OneStream Live or Castr when their broader workflow is useful and the exact continuous mode is included. StreamYard is principally a live studio, not an established equivalent to indefinite looping. Choose Wowza-style infrastructure or DIY when you need control and are prepared to take on configuration and operations.

Cloud looping services for prerecorded YouTube video
1. StreamNeo: simple, continuous YouTube looping
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded recordings or playlists. Upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud continues streaming when your computer is off, and it can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. It does not broadcast a live camera feed or stream to platforms other than YouTube.
Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery, and support from the StreamNeo team. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps; there are no quality tiers, and the product is the same across plans. The first day is free with no card, once per account.

2. Gyre: compare stream, storage, and scheduling limits
Gyre offers cloud-based prerecorded streaming across supported destinations. Its surfaced official pricing table lists Start at $49 monthly, Start+ at $99, and PRO+ at $169; the plans differ in simultaneous streams, resolution, storage, playlist access, and scheduler access. Treat those as the listed monthly prices, not a guarantee that every plan supports the same YouTube setup. Check the current plan details against your destinations, quality, and number of concurrent streams before subscribing. Vendor statements about audience growth or algorithm benefits are promotional claims, not independent evidence of outcomes.

3. OneStream Live: confirm 24/7 eligibility before choosing it
OneStream Live documents a YouTube-only 24/7 mode that can be scheduled for up to 30 days. Its guide says Enterprise is required, while a separate help article describes a YouTube-only add-on for up to three concurrent streams. Because those descriptions do not establish a single consistent eligibility path, check the current checkout and your account’s plan before relying on the feature. Its broader scheduled-broadcast and multistreaming workflow may still suit creators who need more than continuous looping.
4. Castr: broader playout and streaming capabilities
Castr lists 24/7 playout alongside hosting, monetization, and OTT features. Its pricing page lists Starter at $19.99 per month with two streams, six destinations, and 200 GB monthly bandwidth. That is a surfaced Starter plan, not proof that it includes the precise 24/7 configuration your channel needs. Confirm the plan, bandwidth, destinations, and concurrent-stream requirements. Castr’s comparisons describe its own SLA, failover, and support claims; treat them as vendor claims and read the actual terms rather than as independent performance guarantees.

When a studio, server platform, or DIY setup makes more sense
StreamYard for hosted live shows, not an assumed endless loop
StreamYard is primarily a browser studio for live shows, guests, and multistreaming. The surfaced Core plan limits prerecorded streaming to two hours. If your requirement is a continuous prerecorded channel, verify directly whether a current plan supports the duration and loop behavior you need before treating StreamYard as an alternative.
Wowza Streaming Engine for infrastructure control
Wowza describes Streaming Engine as configurable server software that can run on-premises, at the edge, in the cloud, or in air-gapped environments. Its broader capabilities can suit operators who need control over ingest, processing, delivery, or integrations and who can configure and operate the infrastructure. Wowza also describes using it to build always-on channels and VOD libraries, but that does not make it the same managed workflow as uploading videos to a cloud loop service.

Wowza’s surfaced current price is $195 per month for Streaming Engine Basic Monthly, listed with one instance and up to 10 concurrent transcoded channels. This is Streaming Engine pricing, not a verified current price for Wowza Streaming Cloud. Confirm the exact product, availability, and plan boundary before comparing costs or migrating.
DIY PC or VPS when you want to own operations
A continuously running computer or VPS can be part of a self-managed streaming setup, but you take responsibility for the encoder or server, power or hosting, connectivity, stream-key handling, restarts, monitoring, and maintenance. Compare the complete operating cost and the time required to recover failures—not just the machine or server fee. A cloud service reduces local operating tasks, while infrastructure or DIY approaches offer more configuration control at the cost of greater responsibility.
How to choose without comparing unlike plans
- Define the source. If you are looping uploaded recordings, compare cloud playout services. If you are sending a live camera or program feed, check for an ingest-and-encoding workflow instead.
- Set the required destination and duration. Confirm YouTube support, whether the mode is truly continuous, any maximum scheduled duration, and how many streams can run simultaneously.
- Match quality and storage. Check maximum resolution and frame rate, whether output is re-encoded, and how much storage is included for your recordings and playlists.
- Check the full plan, not the entry price. Include required add-ons, stream count, bandwidth, storage, scheduling, and the billing term. Confirm regional pricing and trial conditions at checkout.
- Decide who recovers a dropped stream. For a managed service, examine its stated recovery behavior. For DIY or infrastructure, plan for process restarts, alerting, connectivity failures, and key management.
- Check YouTube’s current requirements and rights. YouTube’s encoder help is the platform-side source for current live setup requirements. Ensure you have the rights to the video and audio you stream; a continuous schedule does not exempt a channel from copyright rules or YouTube monetization policies.
Common problems to check before committing
- A “24/7” feature is unavailable on your plan: check account eligibility, add-on requirements, stream limits, and whether a listed duration applies to each schedule.
- Your stream stops after a scheduled period: verify the service’s maximum event duration and whether it supports a persistent loop rather than repeated scheduled broadcasts.
- Quality or storage does not fit: compare the specific plan’s resolution, frame rate, storage, and concurrent streams; do not infer these from a service’s entry tier or another vendor’s plan.
- YouTube drops or rejects a stream: check the current YouTube encoder guidance and stream setup, then determine whether your chosen provider retries automatically or requires manual intervention.
- A channel has copyright or monetization trouble: continuous availability does not establish permission to use material or guarantee monetization eligibility. Review YouTube policies and confirm rights for every video and audio track.
- A quoted price appears to compare poorly: check whether it is for the same product, region, billing period, stream count, quality, storage, and required add-ons. In particular, do not substitute Streaming Engine pricing for an unverified Streaming Cloud price.
