You can run a 24/7 lofi hip hop radio stream on YouTube by preparing music and visuals you have rights to use, then sending the finished program through a local encoder such as OBS or a cloud service. First enable live streaming on your channel, clear rights for every track and visual, build and test a loop, and choose whether your own computer or a cloud service will keep the broadcast running.
1. Enable live streaming before you build the program
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and its guidance sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable access well before your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming access guidance.
You do not need OBS specifically: YouTube supports software encoders running on computers and hardware encoders. The important decision is whether a device at your location or a cloud service will send the stream continuously. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes the software and hardware workflows.
2. Clear music and visual rights first
Do not assume a downloaded file, artist credit, or the words “royalty-free” grant permission for a continuous YouTube livestream. Confirm that the license covers livestreaming and, if relevant, recording, monetization, territories, and the specific platform. Clear the entire production chain: a track you made may still contain samples or loops that require permission. For commissioned work, put permitted uses and monetization in writing.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Keep licenses, agreements, invoices, track lists, source URLs, and copies of the terms that applied when you obtained the assets.
- Where applicable, ask the rights holder or library about Content ID allowlisting. A license does not guarantee that automated claims or interruptions will not occur.
- Use original, commissioned, or clearly licensed artwork and animation. Avoid another channel’s recognizable character, scene, or branding.
YouTube says music and sound effects in its Audio Library are copyright-safe on YouTube. If a library track has a Creative Commons license, include the supplied attribution text in the video description. YouTube says it cannot vouch for “royalty-free” music from other channels or libraries; this platform guidance is not legal advice for off-platform uses.
YouTube’s live-stream policy states: “All content in live streams must adhere to our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.” Review the live-streaming restrictions and policies before broadcasting.
3. Build a mix and visual that can loop cleanly
Choose one long mix or a playlist
A single longer mixed file is simpler to sequence and review. A playlist of separate tracks makes it easier to replace one piece later, but the files should be consistent: align resolution, frame rate, video and audio codecs, and audio sample rate. In either format, audition the transitions, check perceived loudness from track to track, and listen to the final transition back to the start.

Make the visual seamless
Use a still image or subtle animation that you have permission to broadcast. Compare the final frame with the first frame so the visual loop does not visibly jump. Keep the movement and audio representative of what viewers will actually receive; do not rely on an untested placeholder scene.

Export a compatible file
A practical starting export described in StreamNeo’s lofi radio setup guide is MP4 with H.264 video, AAC stereo audio, 1080p at 30 frames per second, and a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube’s encoder settings recommend H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC or MP3 audio. Its recommended H.264 bitrate is 10 Mbps for 1080p30 and 4 Mbps for 720p30. These are platform configuration recommendations, not a guarantee that your connection can sustain the upload.
Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain with headroom. YouTube transcodes streams for viewers, so the encoder’s output settings do not dictate the only playback quality available to them. If you are streaming a playlist of files, verify that the actual playback workflow handles the transitions and loop boundary as intended.

4. Choose how to keep the broadcast running
StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider if you want an uploaded lofi program to keep streaming while your computer is off: it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
| Approach | Where the stream runs | What must stay available | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local encoder, such as OBS | Your computer or dedicated encoder | The encoder and your internet connection | More hands-on control, but local power or connection problems can interrupt the stream. OBS documents dropped frames when the destination connection is unstable or cannot keep up with the selected bitrate: OBS dropped-frames guidance. |
| StreamNeo cloud service | StreamNeo’s cloud after you upload media and configure the YouTube connection | Your account and the provider’s service | Remote operation without leaving a home computer running. StreamNeo describes automatic recovery after YouTube drops the stream; that is a vendor-stated feature, not an independent uptime guarantee. See StreamNeo. |
OBS is available at no charge, but a local setup still uses your hardware, electricity, and internet connection. Cloud services charge according to their plans after any trial; check current terms, storage, and recovery details directly. A UPS may help a locally hosted computer ride through a brief power interruption, but it will not fix an internet outage and is unnecessary for a cloud-hosted stream.
5. Set up the YouTube stream and encoder
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream in the Live Control Room. Choose the correct channel and visibility; use unlisted for your initial test. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current interface.
- Copy the stream URL and key into your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Configure the output. As a starting point, use H.264 video, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC or MP3 audio. For H.264, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps at 1080p30 or 4 Mbps at 720p30. Select settings your upload connection can sustain steadily.
- Start the encoder and wait for the preview and health status. Confirm that the correct program appears in the Live Control Room. Start the broadcast there if the workflow requires it; the encoder sending data and the stream being public are distinct steps in this process.
YouTube recommends RTMPS for sending the stream. Consult its current encoder settings page for supported protocols and configuration details, as interface labels can change.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
6. Test the loop before making it public
Run an unlisted test long enough to hear multiple track handoffs and the end-to-start transition. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real program, checking stream health, and reading any status messages.
- Listen for silence, clipping, abrupt loudness changes, and gaps or overlaps at transitions.
- Watch for frozen video, visible loop cuts, or animation that does not repeat as expected.
- Confirm the correct destination channel, stream title, description, and any required music attribution.
- Check playback on a phone as well as your production screen.
- Keep the source files and rights records accessible so you can replace a track or respond to a claim.
7. Operate the 24/7 stream and plan for interruptions
A continuous stream needs periodic attention. Check the encoder or service status, playback audio and video, chat for spam, and YouTube notifications for claims or restrictions. With a local encoder, OBS says dropped frames can result from an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain; lower the bitrate or address the connection problem, then confirm stream health before relying on the broadcast again.
Do not assume YouTube will preserve the complete 24/7 broadcast as one replay. YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that does not promise a complete archive for a longer continuous stream. Keep a separate recording or source files if preservation matters. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

8. Understand monetization limits
Being able to livestream does not by itself qualify a channel for monetization. YouTube says YouTube Partner Program members can monetize live streams, and its Audio Library guidance says YPP members can monetize videos containing its music and sound effects. Check current eligibility and feature availability in YouTube Studio. No reliable earnings figure follows simply from running a lofi radio stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not keep a computer and home internet connection devoted to the broadcast, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only service for uploaded videos and playlists. The basic flow is:
- Upload your recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the program from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. Your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; StreamNeo also says it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. See StreamNeo for the service and current plan details, or start your free day.
