Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →You can broadcast prerecorded devotional videos continuously by enabling YouTube Live, preparing rights-cleared media, and running FFmpeg on a VPS with YouTube Studio’s server URL and stream key. The VPS must have enough outbound data allowance for an always-on broadcast, and FFmpeg needs supervision: a process restarting is not proof that YouTube is receiving a healthy stream. Plan for YouTube’s archive limit too—streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived, so do not assume one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will become one complete archive.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch.
- An Indian VPS with a Linux environment, adequate monthly outbound transfer, and enough CPU, memory and storage for your media and chosen FFmpeg workflow.
- Video and audio files you have permission to broadcast continuously. Permission to possess a track or play it privately does not establish livestream or monetization rights.
- FFmpeg installed on the VPS, a stable playlist or source file, and the live server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio.
- A plan for monitoring, recovery, stream restarts and YouTube archives.
1. Enable YouTube Live and prepare the broadcast
- In YouTube Studio, enable live streaming for the channel. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Open Live Control Room and create or schedule the broadcast. Copy the server URL and stream key YouTube provides; use the exact ingest details shown for that event.
- Keep the stream key private. Do not put it in a public script, repository, screenshot or unprotected log. Store it in a permission-restricted environment file or secret store on the VPS. If it is exposed, replace or rotate it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Check the broadcast preview and stream health during setup. A successful FFmpeg connection alone does not prove that YouTube is receiving decodable video and audio.
2. Check the rights and prepare devotional media
Build the stream only from recordings and visuals you are entitled to broadcast. A devotional subject, traditional melody, online MP3 or publicly accessible video is not automatic permission to stream that particular recording. A composition and its sound recording can involve different rights, and artwork or other visuals may have separate rights as well.
Ask the rights holder for written permission that identifies the exact material and covers continuous livestreaming, the territories and period you intend to serve, and monetization if you plan to monetize. Clarify who handles Content ID claims and whether your channel needs to be allowlisted. Keep licences, invoices, permission messages and contributor or session releases together. For a specific repertoire or legal question, verify the rights with the relevant rights holders or a qualified adviser.
Make the source predictable
- Use media with compatible codecs, dimensions and frame rates throughout a playlist. Inconsistent sources can cause failed concatenation or abrupt output changes.
- Listen to the end and beginning of adjacent items. Check for unintended silence, clipped audio, black frames or jarring level changes.
- For a stream-copy workflow, ensure that the source codecs and container are accepted by YouTube and that keyframes meet the required interval. If they do not, encode to compliant settings instead of assuming that copying the original streams is suitable.
- Test the playlist with representative motion and audio before going live. A still devotional image may use little video bandwidth, but audio still needs to be present and stable.
3. Choose a VPS by sustained transfer, not just its headline price
Every second of an always-on broadcast sends data out from the VPS. Estimate transfer from the actual video-plus-audio bitrate and allow for protocol overhead; then compare the result with the provider’s monthly transfer allowance and fair-use terms. “Unmetered” is a provider’s description, not a guarantee that every sustained usage pattern is permitted.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
At 4.5 Mbps, StreamNeo’s published calculation/example estimates about 2 GB per hour and roughly 1.4 TB in 30 days. That is an arithmetic example, not a universal measured result or a requirement for your channel; a lower or higher bitrate changes the estimate proportionally. Compare the VPS’s current terms directly before choosing a plan.
Compare the plan details that affect a continuous stream
- Transfer policy: monthly outbound allowance, fair-use rules, throttling and extra-transfer charges.
- Compute: sustained CPU allowance and whether your workflow stream-copies compatible media or transcodes it in real time. Transcoding generally requires more CPU; benchmark the intended workload rather than buying by a blanket VPS-size rule.
- Memory and storage: enough RAM for the operating system and process, plus space for media, logs and any backups you choose to keep.
- Network: location and route to YouTube’s ingest service, plus the provider’s terms for sustained traffic.
- Operations and price: restart and backup arrangements, support, taxes, renewal pricing and cancellation conditions.
Indian VPS vendors advertise different combinations of traffic limits and “unmetered” or fair-use bandwidth; those advertisements do not establish that a particular instance will sustain your stream. Verify current plan terms and actual capacity with the provider. FFmpeg documentation describes protocol capabilities, not a recommended Indian VPS size.
4. Set FFmpeg output to YouTube’s encoder requirements
Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for the resolution and frame rate you select. The settings that matter are:
- Video: H.264.
- Rate control: constant bitrate (CBR).
- Audio: AAC or MP3.
- Keyframes: every two seconds; never more than four seconds apart.
- Bitrate: match the current YouTube recommendation for your chosen resolution and frame rate, counting audio as part of the total outbound rate. Leave network headroom rather than setting the VPS connection at its practical limit.
Do not copy a bitrate from an unrelated tutorial without checking that it matches your output resolution and frame rate. YouTube’s recommendations can change; consult the current encoder guidance in YouTube Help when configuring the actual broadcast.

Use stream copy only when the files already fit
If a single source file already has compatible H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and suitable keyframes, FFmpeg can pass the streams through without re-encoding. Set the two environment variables below to the exact values from YouTube Studio: YOUTUBE_RTMPS_URL must contain the complete ingest address, including the key if Studio supplies it as part of the address. Do not type a real key into a shell command that may be retained in shell history.
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i video.mp4 -c:v copy -c:a copy -f flv "$YOUTUBE_RTMPS_URL"
This is a starting pattern for a compatible single file, not a guaranteed command for every media file or FFmpeg build. If YouTube rejects the stream, inspect the input codecs, container, keyframe spacing, audio presence and Studio’s stream-health feedback. A stream-copy command does not correct an unsuitable source.
Transcode when the source does not meet the output requirements
For incompatible media, transcode to H.264 video and AAC audio, choosing resolution, frame rate and bitrate to match YouTube’s current encoder recommendations. For example, the following pattern sets a two-second GOP at 30 fps and a fixed 4.5 Mbps video rate. Use it only if those output choices are appropriate for your selected resolution and current YouTube recommendations; otherwise adjust them. The bitrate shown is an example configuration, not a universal recommendation.
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i video.mp4
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 4500k -maxrate 4500k -bufsize 9000k
-r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "$YOUTUBE_RTMPS_URL"
Real-time encoding consumes CPU. Run a sustained test on the selected VPS and inspect FFmpeg’s output and YouTube’s preview before relying on it. If the process cannot encode steadily, lower the output demands in line with YouTube’s current recommendations or use a VPS with more suitable compute capacity.

Loop an ordered playlist
For a playlist using FFmpeg’s concat demuxer, create a local manifest named playlist.txt with one entry per file, in the desired order:
file 'track-01.mp4'
file 'track-02.mp4'
file 'track-03.mp4'
Keep the manifest and media files in a directory readable by the service account. The files should have compatible streams and parameters for concat demuxing. Then use the manifest as the looping input:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt
-c:v copy -c:a copy -f flv "$YOUTUBE_RTMPS_URL"
This stream-copy playlist pattern assumes compatible media. If the files differ in codecs, dimensions, frame rates or other stream properties, normalize them to a common output instead of relying on stream copy. Verify loop behavior, transitions and audio before the public broadcast.
5. Connect with RTMPS and protect the key
Prefer RTMPS when YouTube Studio supports it for the broadcast. RTMPS is RTMP carried through an SSL-protected connection; YouTube’s RTMPS guidance requires the correct RTMPS endpoint and path, port 443, and media sent through the protected connection. Use the exact address YouTube supplies rather than constructing an endpoint from memory. A URL or key mismatch can prevent the encoder from connecting.

Restrict access to the VPS account and any file containing the stream key. Avoid printing secrets in diagnostic output. If the key appears in a public location or an accessible log, rotate it in YouTube Studio and update the protected configuration before restarting FFmpeg.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.6. Keep FFmpeg running and know when it has failed
Run FFmpeg under a process supervisor or service manager so a process failure can trigger a restart. Keep useful error logs and monitor both the VPS process and YouTube’s preview or stream health. Configure an alert that reaches a person when the encoder exits or YouTube stops receiving a healthy stream.
A supervisor can restart a failed process; it cannot guarantee that the new process connects, that the source decodes correctly, or that YouTube receives a valid broadcast. Test the whole recovery path before launch, including what happens if the network drops, FFmpeg exits, or YouTube stops accepting the current session. The required restart and monitoring setup depends on the VPS operating system, installed FFmpeg build, media and account configuration, so do not treat a generic service file as a tested production configuration.
Pre-launch checks
- Let the stream run for a sustained test with the intended playlist and output settings.
- Confirm the YouTube preview shows decodable video and audible, continuous audio.
- Check VPS CPU use, network stability and outgoing transfer while the process runs.
- Stop FFmpeg deliberately and verify that your supervisor and alert behave as intended.
- Check the stream again after recovery; a restarted process may need a fresh or still-valid YouTube broadcast session.
7. Design around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not mean an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will produce one complete automatic archive. Decide how scheduled restarts will work and test their effects on the watch page, notifications, live audience and resulting archives before relying on the setup. If you need recordings of the full programme, plan a separate recording and storage workflow instead of assuming the live archive will preserve everything.

Copyright, reused content and monetization are separate checks
Rights to stream a recording do not by themselves guarantee monetization or compliance with YouTube’s reused-content rules. Likewise, a continuous livestream is not automatically eligible for monetization or guaranteed extra recommendations. Eligibility depends on current platform policies and the actual channel and content. Review YouTube’s current monetization and reused-content rules for your situation before making a revenue plan.
