There is no independently established best tool for every 24/7 lofi stream. The right choice depends on whether you need a repeating playlist of prerecorded videos, a time-based weekly schedule for individual tracks, or automation that renews YouTube broadcast events. StreamNeo is the simplest cloud option for keeping uploaded video content looping, but it is not a track-by-track weekly programming system. For detailed weekly programming, SavePoint describes a self-hosted scheduler; for broadcast renewal, the OBS Live Stream Segmenter addresses a different part of the job.

First, separate track scheduling from keeping a broadcast live

A 24/7 lofi station has at least two jobs: deciding what plays and when, and delivering a continuous audio/video feed to YouTube. YouTube Studio lets you create or schedule a broadcast, while an encoder or cloud service supplies the feed. Neither a scheduled YouTube event nor broadcast-renewal automation is, by itself, a music library or weekly track scheduler.

YouTube’s encoder workflow is to create a stream in Live Control Room and connect an encoder using the stream URL and stream key. Studio can schedule an upcoming broadcast, after which the encoder is started and the event is taken live. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that matters when planning an unattended station’s stream lifecycle, but it does not schedule music tracks. See YouTube’s encoder and live-stream instructions.

Best-fit options, depending on what you need

  1. StreamNeo — easiest cloud option for continuous prerecorded playback. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; it loops from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. It is a fit for continuous playback, not a documented weekly timetable that assigns different individual tracks to times of day. Visit StreamNeo for details.
  2. SavePoint — the described fit for track-level weekly programming. SavePoint says it can import music tracks, video files, and visual assets, arrange time-based segments in a weekly schedule, and automatically start, stop, and restart YouTube streams. This is the closest match in the documented options for a station that needs day-and-time programming. These are vendor-described features, not independently benchmarked results; confirm supported audio formats, transitions, hosting needs, failure handling, and whether schedule edits interrupt playback with current documentation. SavePoint’s product page describes its workflow.
  3. OneStream Live — cloud scheduling for prerecorded video with a plan and duration constraint. Its help center describes selecting video from a device, its storage, or cloud storage, choosing a YouTube channel, and scheduling a 24-hour stream for a chosen duration. The service says 24/7 streaming is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, and has a maximum allowed duration of 30 days. This is a cloud route for prerecorded content, not evidence of a separate individual-track weekly scheduler. Details are in OneStream’s 24/7 streaming instructions, updated 2026-09-03.
  4. OBS Live Stream Segmenter — for broadcast renewal, not music scheduling. The OBS Project forum listing describes version 1.1.4 as an automation plugin intended to manage YouTube broadcasts and renew them using timers so each stream stays under 12 hours. It does not present itself as a track library or weekly playlist scheduler. The listing requires OBS Studio 31.1.1 or later, YouTube live-stream permission, a Google Cloud project with YouTube Data API v3 enabled, and an OAuth2 desktop client; it supports Windows, macOS, and Linux according to the listing. It was last updated 2026-01-17, so check compatibility and maintenance before relying on it. See the Live Stream Segmenter resource listing.
  5. Custom YouTube Live Streaming API integration — maximum implementation flexibility, highest build burden. Google documents API operations for scheduling broadcasts, associating video streams, and transitioning broadcast states. The API is a developer interface, not a ready-made track scheduler or playlist UI: you still need to select and play media, maintain the audio/video feed, and build the authorization and automation around it. Start with the YouTube Live Streaming API overview and consult the API reference.

Choose by programming style and operating responsibility

Option Scheduling model Where playback or automation runs Important constraint
StreamNeo Loop an uploaded recording or playlist; a weekly track timetable is not established. Cloud service YouTube only; uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
SavePoint Vendor describes time-based segments in a weekly schedule. Self-hosted software, per the described workflow Verify current format support, hosting requirements, failure behavior, and edit behavior with the vendor.
OneStream Live Schedule prerecorded video as a 24-hour stream for a chosen duration. Cloud service Its help page says Enterprise is required and sets a 30-day maximum duration.
Live Stream Segmenter Broadcast renewal and segmentation, not track rotation. OBS installation on a supported computer Listing requires OBS Studio 31.1.1 or later plus YouTube/API setup.
YouTube Live Streaming API Broadcast and stream resource management; a music scheduler must be built separately. Your custom implementation and media playback system Requires developer setup and authorization.

Set up a track schedule and broadcast as separate systems

For a continuous prerecorded playlist

  1. Prepare the finished video or videos you have rights to stream. If your tracks are separate audio files, first determine how your playback system will pair them with the visual layer and produce the continuous feed.
  2. Choose the playback route: a cloud service for uploaded prerecorded video, or a self-hosted scheduler/player if you need more direct control over individual tracks and timing.
  3. In YouTube Live Control Room, create the stream and use its stream URL and stream key to connect the selected encoder or service, following YouTube’s encoder guide.
  4. Test the playlist, transitions, audio levels, and reconnection behavior privately or with a limited test before treating it as unattended. Documentation describes capabilities, not comparative reliability results.

For a weekly schedule of individual tracks

  1. Write down the intended programming by day and time, including what should play after the final segment and how gaps or missing media should be handled.
  2. Evaluate a scheduler that explicitly supports time-based segments, rather than assuming that a YouTube event scheduler or a looping-video service can program a week of separate tracks. SavePoint describes this model, but verify its current release and operational requirements with the vendor.
  3. Confirm where the scheduler and media will run, how the stream starts and restarts, and whether schedule changes require interruption. Test a representative schedule before publishing it as a continuous station.
  4. Use YouTube Studio and the encoder connection for broadcast setup, while keeping track programming and broadcast lifecycle configuration conceptually separate.

For a custom API or OBS renewal setup

Use the API route only if the main need is custom broadcast control and you can build and maintain the media playback and authorization pieces. The API can schedule and transition broadcast resources, but it does not provide the music rotation layer. The Segmenter route may suit an OBS-based workflow focused on renewing broadcasts, but its listed setup includes OBS, YouTube permissions, a Google Cloud project, API enablement, and OAuth credentials. Neither route removes the need to test playback continuity and recovery.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is for uploaded prerecorded videos on YouTube: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it loops in the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. It does not create a camera-based live broadcast or a documented time-of-day track timetable. Start a free StreamNeo day.

What to check before trusting a 24/7 station

  • Track scheduling depth: Do you need one repeating loop, a playlist rotation, or different tracks at scheduled times and days?
  • Media format: Are you uploading finished videos, or do you need separate audio tracks mixed with a visual layer?
  • Hosting and upkeep: Does playback run in the cloud or on a machine/server you must keep available and maintain?
  • Lifecycle and failure recovery: Does the setup start, restart, or renew broadcasts automatically, and what happens after an internet, encoder, or YouTube interruption?
  • Limits and prerequisites: Check maximum run duration, plan gating, required OBS version, API credentials, and live-stream eligibility before committing.
  • Evidence quality: YouTube and Google documentation establishes platform/API behavior; vendor pages describe vendor capabilities. Neither the descriptions here nor the listed limits are comparative reliability tests.

Copyright and channel eligibility still matter

Scheduling software does not grant music rights or determine whether a channel complies with YouTube’s rules. Use tracks and visuals you are authorized to stream, and review YouTube’s current live-stream requirements and applicable copyright rules before launching an unattended channel. A technically continuous stream can still be interrupted or restricted for reasons unrelated to the scheduler.

Common problems and what to check

  • The broadcast is scheduled but viewers do not see a live feed: A scheduled YouTube event is not the encoder feed. Confirm that the service or encoder is connected using the correct stream URL and key, and that the event has been started and taken live as intended.
  • The stream ends during an unattended run: Check the chosen product’s maximum duration and renewal behavior. YouTube archives streams under 12 hours; OneStream’s help page states a 30-day maximum for its 24/7 stream duration. These are distinct operational details, not guarantees that a setup will remain live.
  • Tracks play, but not at the planned times: Confirm that the software actually supports time-based weekly segments. A simple loop or a YouTube event schedule should not be assumed to provide per-track scheduling.
  • An OBS automation plugin will not connect: Verify the listed OBS minimum version, YouTube live-stream permission, enabled YouTube Data API v3 in the Google Cloud project, and OAuth desktop-client setup; also confirm that the plugin still works with your current OBS release.
  • Playback stops after a local machine or network problem: In a self-hosted workflow, inspect the host’s availability, encoder state, and network connection. A cloud workflow avoids needing a home computer to remain on, but still merits a controlled test of its documented recovery behavior.
