The answer depends on which machine is doing the continuous work of sending the video to YouTube.

What you still need to do before switching off
- Upload the recording or prepare the playlist in your chosen service. Keep your computer and internet connection available until the upload is finished.
- Connect the service to your YouTube channel using its stream-key setup, then start the broadcast.
- Wait for the service to report that the stream has started. Check the service dashboard and confirm that playback is visible on YouTube.
- Only then close the browser or turn off your computer. You may still need a computer or another device later to monitor the broadcast, manage settings or make changes.

Cloud hosting does not bypass YouTube’s rules
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to live stream. These eligibility requirements still apply whether the stream is sent by a local encoder or a cloud service. Check YouTube’s live-streaming guidance
Also make sure you have the rights to the video and audio you broadcast. A stream continuing from the cloud does not change YouTube’s copyright or other platform policies.

What cloud hosting changes—and what it does not
- Your computer’s role: It can handle setup and uploading, but it does not have to remain the always-on encoder after the cloud stream starts.
- Your connection: You still need internet access to upload the file and manage the stream. Cloud hosting moves the continuous stream operation off your home computer; it does not eliminate setup or management needs.
