The graphics appear in the broadcast; the scheduled event helps people find it before airtime.
Prepare a logo and schedule graphic
Use a transparent image for the station logo so it can sit over the video without an opaque background. Prepare the schedule at the same aspect ratio as the stream canvas, or use a layout that fits within it. These are practical design choices, not special YouTube requirements.
- Make the station name and program times legible at phone size.
- Position graphics away from important video, captions, and the YouTube player controls.
- Check times, program names, and time zone before broadcasting.
A static schedule graphic is suitable when the information will remain accurate for the whole broadcast. A changing now/next panel needs a data source or production system; YouTube’s encoder guidance does not specify how to build that integration.
Add the logo and schedule to the outgoing video
Your encoder composes the picture sent to YouTube. Add the logo as an image or graphic source, then add the schedule as another image or text/graphics layer. Position both within the stream frame and inspect them in the encoder preview. Encoder interfaces differ, so there is no universal menu path.

YouTube’s encoder guidance describes sending a stream and notes that encoder capabilities vary. A software encoder can be enough for a static logo and schedule if it supports layered graphics. Dedicated hardware is optional, not a prerequisite.
If the schedule changes, update the graphic or text in the encoder and verify the new version in preview before it reaches viewers. For a recurring radio feed, decide whether someone will update a static panel or whether your production system will supply current program information.

Schedule the YouTube livestream
- Open YouTube Studio and select Go Live.
- Open Manage, then choose the option to schedule a stream.
- Enter the event title and description, choose its privacy setting, and set the date, time, and time zone carefully.
- Use the server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio to connect your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, overlays, or public documentation.
- Share the event’s watch page with listeners. YouTube says a scheduled stream can be promoted through its URL, and viewers can request a reminder.
Scheduling the event does not add a logo or schedule to the picture. Those graphics must already be composed into the encoder’s outgoing feed.
Preview and check before airtime
Set up well ahead of the broadcast and check the feed in YouTube’s Live Control Room before starting. Confirm that the event watch page is accessible and review the actual preview for the details that matter on air.

- Program details and times are accurate, including the relevant time zone.
- Audio is present and at an appropriate level.
- The encoder is connected using the current server URL and stream key shown in Studio.
Do not assume that a graphic visible in the encoder’s own preview is enough; check YouTube’s incoming preview too.
Choose software or dedicated hardware
For a simple static logo and schedule, start with the encoder you already use if it supports layered graphics. Consider dedicated hardware only if its capabilities fit the station’s workflow and operating needs. YouTube’s official encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus as an example with logo/layout graphics and scheduled prerecorded-media playback; that listing does not establish that it is necessary or suitable for every station.

When comparing options, check whether they can layer and position graphics, whether the schedule is static or automatically updated, and whether they support your operating system and sources. Also consider whether you need a one-off setup or recurring operation, and whether an appliance is justified for your reliability or continuous-operation requirements.

Keep copyright and channel rules in view
Adding graphics and scheduling an event do not grant permission to broadcast the music or other material in it. Make sure the station has the rights needed for the recordings, compositions, and any other content it streams, and check YouTube’s applicable copyright and monetization rules. Do not treat a logo overlay or a continuous loop as proof that content is original or cleared.
