If a 24/7 cartoon livestream has video but no sound, first check whether the streaming software is receiving audio: in OBS, find the audio source in the mixer, make sure it is not muted, and see whether its meter moves while the cartoon plays. Then compare the stream with a local recording and check YouTube Studio for warnings. That sequence helps distinguish a source or capture problem from an output or platform issue; silence alone does not identify the cause.
1. Check the YouTube player and another device
Before changing the stream setup, make sure the viewer-side player is not muted. Try the livestream on another browser or device as well. If sound works elsewhere, the issue may be limited to the original playback setup rather than the stream itself.
2. Check the audio source in OBS
If you use OBS, locate the source or input that should carry the cartoon’s audio and watch the Audio Mixer while the video plays. OBS documents that mixer meters show audio activity and that a source can be muted or unmuted from the mixer. See the OBS Audio Mixer Guide.
- If the meter moves: OBS is seeing audio from that source. Confirm the source is not muted, then continue to a local recording check.
- If the meter does not move: check that the cartoon is playing with sound, that the intended media source or input is selected, and that the source’s audio is routed into OBS. Menu labels and routing vary by OBS version and setup.
If you use an encoder other than OBS, look for its equivalent audio input, mute control, and level meter; the exact controls depend on the software.

3. Compare the stream with a local recording
Make a short local recording or use another independent playback check, if available. Listen to it and compare the result with the mixer meter. This is a diagnostic comparison, not proof of a specific fault.
- No audio in the mixer or local recording: focus on the cartoon playback, selected source, input device, capture method, and audio routing.
- Audio in the local recording, but not for YouTube viewers: focus on the streaming output path and YouTube Studio status.
- Inconsistent results: repeat the check with a short test before making changes to a stream intended to run continuously.

4. Inspect YouTube Studio for warnings or restrictions
Open the live control room and YouTube Studio, then review any visible warnings, restrictions, or stream interruptions. YouTube advises checking the Studio dashboard for strikes when a live stream stops. See Avoid restrictions on YouTube live streaming.
Copyright is worth investigating if Studio shows a relevant notice, but silence by itself is not evidence that copyright enforcement caused the problem. YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If identified content remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate a live stream. Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the stream ends. These are distinct situations; an archived-stream claim does not by itself explain why a currently live stream is silent. 5. Check hardware only if the earlier checks point to it
If the source meter stays inactive after confirming that the cartoon itself should have sound, test whether the selected input or connected interface is working and whether the intended source is being captured. A silent livestream does not establish hardware failure, so do not replace equipment based on the symptom alone.
