First identify what “misses a video” means: an upcoming livestream is missing in Studio, viewers cannot find it, the encoder did not start it, a separately scheduled upload failed to publish, or the livestream replay is absent. Each has a different fix. For an upcoming stream, start at YouTube Studio > Content > Live > Upcoming; for a replay, check Live Replay.
Identify which video or stream is missing
A scheduled livestream and a scheduled ordinary video use different controls. In Studio’s Live area, streams are grouped as Live Now, Upcoming, and Live Replay. A standard video scheduled to publish is found in the regular Content list and managed through its Visibility settings.
| What happened? | Where to check | First action |
|---|---|---|
| Upcoming livestream is absent in Studio | Content > Live > Upcoming; Live Control Room > Manage | Find and select the intended event; verify its details. |
| Viewers cannot find the scheduled event | Event visibility and its watch page | Check whether it is public, private, or unlisted; test the shared event link. |
| Encoder is connected but no broadcast appears | Encoder settings and Live Control Room | Verify the event’s stream URL and key, wait for preview, then select Go Live. |
| Ordinary scheduled video did not publish | Content > video > Visibility | Review the scheduled publish time and any account restriction. |
| Livestream happened but replay is missing | Content > Live > Live Replay | Check archive visibility and whether the stream exceeded 12 hours. |
If the upcoming livestream is missing in Studio
- Open YouTube Studio > Content > Live and select the Upcoming tab.
- Open Live Control Room > Manage and look for the scheduled event there. YouTube’s webcam guidance says scheduled streams can be selected from Manage. If you are creating an encoder stream, the documented path is Studio > Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream.
- Open the event and confirm it is the correct broadcast, with the intended date, time, and timezone. If there are multiple planned streams, check the event title and scheduled time rather than assuming a similarly named event is the right one.
- If you scheduled an ordinary upload rather than a livestream, stop using the Live tab as the only check. Go to the regular Content list and inspect that video’s Visibility and schedule.
If no event appears in either Upcoming or Manage, the general YouTube guidance does not identify a single cause for every missing event. Note what Studio displays and whether the event was created as a livestream or an ordinary upload before changing anything.
If viewers cannot see the upcoming event
Check the livestream’s visibility setting. YouTube supports public, private, and unlisted videos and streams. Public items can appear on the channel and in search; private items are visible only to the owner and people the owner selects. An unlisted event is not publicly discoverable in the same way as a public one, so share its watch-page link with the intended viewers.

- Open the scheduled event and inspect its visibility.
- Use the event’s watch-page link to check whether the intended audience can access it.
- If the event should be publicly discoverable, confirm it is set to Public.
A public scheduled stream may appear in subscribers’ feeds as upcoming with a “Notify me” option, but YouTube does not guarantee placement in every viewer’s feed. Sharing the event link is a practical access check; feed placement alone does not establish that scheduling failed.
If an encoder is connected but the broadcast does not start
- In Live Control Room, select the intended scheduled event and use the stream URL and stream key associated with that event. A key or URL from another event can send the encoder to the wrong destination.
- Start the encoder and wait for its video preview to appear in Live Control Room.
- When the preview is visible and the event details are correct, select Go Live in Live Control Room.
- Check the channel page and the event’s watch page to confirm access. YouTube’s live-streaming tips also recommend testing on mobile, monitoring audio and video, and checking that a local archive file is growing.
If preview never appears or the event remains offline, record the exact Studio status and encoder error message. YouTube’s general help does not establish one cause or universal fix for every encoder failure, so avoid changing unrelated settings without an error-specific reason.

If a scheduled ordinary video did not publish
A scheduled upload is not the same as a scheduled livestream. Find the video in YouTube Studio > Content, open its Visibility settings, and review the scheduled publication date and time. YouTube describes scheduled publishing as a private video set to become public at a specified time.
Check for a Community Guidelines strike
YouTube Help says that if an account has a Community Guidelines strike, its scheduled video will not publish during the penalty period. The video remains private and must be rescheduled after the freeze period. This documented restriction applies to scheduled video publishing; it should not be assumed to explain every livestream that is missing or hidden.

Account for the watch-page date
YouTube says an ordinary video’s watch-page date is based on Pacific Standard Time and may differ from the date displayed in Studio, particularly when the upload or scheduled time is in a timezone ahead of PST. A date difference by itself does not prove the scheduled video failed to publish.
If the livestream replay is missing
- Open YouTube Studio > Content > Live > Live Replay.
- Find the archive and inspect its visibility. You can change an archive’s visibility from the Content area.
- Check the stream length. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
- For future broadcasts, keep a local recording as a backup. YouTube Help recommends recording a local archive; automatic archiving is not a guarantee that every shorter stream will appear immediately.
Check eligibility if you cannot start any livestream
YouTube Help’s live-streaming tips state that a creator must have a verified channel and no livestream restrictions in the past 90 days to livestream. If Studio will not let you start any broadcast—not just the scheduled event—check whether the channel meets those requirements and note any restriction or message shown in Studio.
