If your lectures are prerecorded and should loop continuously, cloud playout can automate playback without keeping a local computer running. If you are broadcasting a live lecturer or classroom camera, you still need an encoder in the signal path.
What Live Control Room does—and what it does not
YouTube Live Control Room is the place to create and manage a stream, not a player for your lecture files. You connect a source—such as an encoder or a cloud playout service—using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. YouTube describes an encoder as a tool that “converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
You can schedule a stream in advance and promote it so viewers can receive reminders. For a scheduled stream using an encoder, the documented workflow has the encoder begin sending the feed, after which the operator confirms Go live in Live Control Room. The compact Live Control Panel is available with an encoder or webcam. Scheduling helps manage the YouTube event; it does not make a computer or encoder start itself or keep a prerecorded playlist running.
Choose the signal path that matches the lecture
Prerecorded lecture files
For a library of recorded lectures, use a playout method that can continuously select and repeat those files. A local computer running playback and an encoder can do this, but it depends on that computer, its power, the encoder software, and the local internet connection staying available. A cloud playout service moves playback to a hosted service, avoiding dependence on a computer at the lecture site for the loop.

YouTube’s encoder information page lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded YouTube videos. The listing describes a relevant use case; it does not independently establish uptime, support quality, price, or fit for a particular institution.
Live camera or classroom feed
A live lecture camera needs a live source and an encoder to send its audiovisual signal. A cloud playlist of uploaded recordings is not a substitute for a camera feed. YouTube lists the Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K among verified encoders and describes it as capable of streaming directly to YouTube up to 2160p60. It is an optional hardware candidate for a camera-based setup, not a requirement for prerecorded lectures. YouTube notes that verified encoders are made by third parties and advises operators to evaluate which option fits their needs.

These are conditional choices, not a universal reliability ranking. The cited product documentation does not provide a comparative uptime test. For a prerecorded YouTube lecture loop, cloud playout is the closest match to the playback problem; for a camera-based live lecture, select an encoder for the live source. More configurable cloud delivery infrastructure can be appropriate where an operator needs control over encoding and delivery, but it brings configuration and usage-cost considerations.
Plan archives before committing to one continuous stream
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is a material constraint for a channel intended to remain live for 24 hours or longer: do not assume one uninterrupted stream will become a single complete archive. Decide whether recordings must be preserved, determine how they will be captured or divided, and verify YouTube’s current archiving behavior for your intended stream length. YouTube’s published guidance does not say that every stream longer than 12 hours fails to archive or specify every retention outcome.

Estimate cost using the actual audience and workflow
Compare local hardware and staffing with recurring service charges, cloud encoding and packaging, and viewer delivery costs. In viewer-heavy cloud workflows, distribution can be a larger cost driver than encoding, so a useful estimate needs expected viewers, bitrate, viewing duration, region, packaging, and delivery architecture.
AWS gives an illustrative one-hour event scenario of approximately 1,000 viewers using an SD-540p profile: $2.50 for live encoding and packaging plus $67.24 for distribution of 791GB, or $69.74 total. That is the guide’s example for a one-hour event, not a price quote or estimate for a 24/7 lecture channel; its assumptions about profile, traffic, and deployment matter. Keep rights and YouTube policy in the plan
Before looping lectures, confirm that your organization has the rights to stream every video, soundtrack, image, and other included material. A file being available to your institution does not by itself establish permission for a public or continuous live broadcast. Review applicable copyright requirements and YouTube’s current policies, and decide who can approve and update the playlist. Keep a record of permissions and remove material when its streaming rights expire.
