The regular Blast interface was reported to support withdrawals through October 26, 2026; after that, users are expected to access assets through Blast’s bridge contracts on Ethereum instead.
Why is Blast winding down?
Blast said its operating costs exceed the revenue generated by the Layer 2 and that it sees no credible path to making the chain economically sustainable. The Block reported the October 2, 2026 announcement as a wind-down, not an immediate shutdown. The Block’s report reproduced the project’s explanation: “The ongoing costs of maintaining Blast exceed the revenue generated by the L2, and we do not see a credible path to making the chain economically sustainable.”
Blast launched in November 2023 with a proposition built around native yield for ETH and stablecoins, generated through ETH staking and real-world-asset protocols and distributed to users. The Block reported that, before the February 2024 mainnet launch, Blast had more than $2 billion in total value locked (TVL) and nearly 200,000 early-access users. At the October 2, 2026 announcement, it reported a little over $32 million in TVL, attributing the figure to DeFiLlama. These are dated historical figures, not current measurements. The Block’s coverage also reported that Blast raised $20 million in November 2023 in a round led by Paradigm and Standard Crypto.
How the reported withdrawal schedule works
Blast asked users to move assets to Ethereum mainnet, including balances held in the Blast PWA. The schedule reported by The Block has an initial Lido-related stage, a temporary pause, and then a period for using the regular interface.

- Lido asset withdrawal: The first step was reported to be withdrawing Blast’s Lido assets. The Block said this process was expected to take about a week, during which withdrawals would be temporarily unavailable. That was an announced estimate; whether the process has completed is not established here.
- Withdrawals resume with a delay: Once that process is complete, withdrawals were expected to resume with a 24-hour delay.
- Regular interface through October 26: The Blast interface was reported to remain available for withdrawals until October 26, 2026. The Block said Blast would publish detailed instructions before that deadline, but the instructions’ publication and current status have not been established. The Block’s report
Can you withdraw after October 26?
October 26 was reported as the end date for using the regular Blast interface, not as a deadline after which assets necessarily become inaccessible. After that date, users are expected to interact directly with Blast bridge contracts on Ethereum. Crypto.news also reported that assets would remain accessible through those contracts. The direct-contract route is less straightforward than using the regular interface, and detailed official instructions should be checked before taking action. Do not rely on an unverified contract address or transaction guide: the available reporting does not establish the addresses or confirm whether Blast has published its promised instructions.
