Choose the service by the job it must do
“Cloud streaming” can mean several different things. A gaming VOD stream typically plays a recorded video as a YouTube live broadcast; cloud gaming compute runs the game and may encode its output; managed video services ingest, transcode, store, or deliver an existing feed. Those functions are not interchangeable.

These categories also differ in operational effort. A VOD loop avoids keeping a home computer online. A cloud gaming VM shifts the computer into a data center but still needs configuration and oversight. Best options by use case

2. AWS EC2 GPU instances — consider when the cloud must run the game
A GPU virtual machine is the category to investigate if the game itself needs to execute remotely. AWS publishes EC2 G4 GPU specifications and on-demand pricing, but that documentation is not a tested gaming-stream configuration. The displayed prices on the cited EC2 page are for US East (Northern Virginia); they should not be treated as a quote for another region or as the full cost of a 24/7 setup.

Before choosing an instance, verify that the target game can run under the selected operating system and remote-access arrangement, that the GPU is available in the intended region, and that your chosen encoder can produce the required YouTube feed. Add compute, GPU, storage, network transfer, operating system, and any separate video-service costs before comparing it with other choices.

Google Cloud GPU charges are separate from machine-type charges and vary by GPU and region. Google’s 2026 pricing page gives NVIDIA T4 at USD 0.35 per GPU-hour on demand. That is a GPU-only price example—not a complete VM price, a 24/7 estimate, or a universal regional quote. Check current GPU stock and regional rates, then add the VM machine type, storage, network transfer, operating system, and any managed video-processing charges.
The available pricing and specifications do not establish which Google Cloud machine type will run a particular game and encoder successfully. Confirm compatibility and capacity for your workload before committing to continuous runtime.

4. AWS Media Services or Google Cloud Live Stream API — for processing an existing feed
AWS documents video workflows that combine CloudFront with AWS Media Services, including VOD, live video, and 24×7 live-channel use cases. This establishes relevant video workflow components, not that CloudFront runs a game or replaces an encoder.
Google Cloud Live Stream API accepts a live input and transcodes it to delivery formats including DASH and HLS. Outputs can be saved to Cloud Storage, and the service overview includes live-to-VOD. Google bills Live Stream API usage on demand; output cost depends in part on resolution and configured codecs. That charge is separate from any VM needed to run a game or encoder. Neither service description establishes a turnkey cloud gaming broadcaster for YouTube.
Set YouTube output requirements before renting compute
YouTube’s live encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for live encoding, up to 60 fps. It recommends constant bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS, advises testing before going live, and provides stream-health monitoring.

- Choose the target resolution and frame rate. Match them to the gameplay source, intended viewing experience, encoder capability, and available upload capacity. Check YouTube’s resolution-specific bitrate table rather than applying one bitrate to every format.
- Configure the encoder. Use a supported codec, constant bitrate, and a two-second keyframe interval (never more than four seconds). Select a bitrate appropriate to the chosen resolution and the actual connection.
- Connect securely and test. Use RTMPS where supported, run a test stream before relying on the setup, and inspect YouTube stream health while it is running.
- Keep the source and output distinct. A VM that runs the game still needs to produce an encoded feed. A managed transcoding API needs a live input. A VOD-looping service needs uploaded video rather than a running game.
For a VOD loop, the key decision is the quality and content of the uploaded recording; StreamNeo states that it streams the upload as made, up to 4K at 60 fps, without re-encoding. Do not compare a GPU hourly figure with an all-in managed-service price. They cover different things. A credible cloud-compute estimate needs the VM machine type and GPU, regional rates and availability, storage, network transfer, operating system, and any separate video-service charges. For a managed live-video workflow, include its usage-based processing charges and any compute that produces the input feed.
The available AWS and Google Cloud material does not provide a matched total for a specified 24/7 YouTube gaming workload. Costs depend on region, workload, settings, and usage; verify current prices and availability for the location and period you plan to run. No workload-specific performance or reliability test is established here, so do not infer that an advertised GPU or managed API guarantees uninterrupted streaming.

Copyright, reused footage, and channel suitability
A technically valid stream key does not establish that the video is permitted to broadcast or that a channel qualifies for monetization. Use gameplay, music, overlays, and other material only when you have the rights or applicable permission, and check YouTube’s current live-stream and monetization requirements for reused material before scheduling a loop. Repeating a video continuously does not itself establish originality or monetization eligibility. Keep records of permissions and review any claims or restrictions shown in YouTube Studio. Troubleshoot by locating the failing stage
The game will not run on the chosen VM
- Likely issue: The game, operating system, GPU, driver, or remote-access setup is incompatible or lacks capacity.
- Fix: Verify game and encoder requirements against the exact VM and region before leaving it running continuously. The published GPU listing alone is not evidence of workload compatibility.
The stream will not connect to YouTube
- Likely issue: The stream key, ingest configuration, or protocol does not match the broadcast setup.
- Fix: Check the active YouTube stream key and encoder destination, use RTMPS where supported, and run a test stream while watching YouTube stream health.
YouTube reports poor stream health
- Likely issue: The connection cannot sustain the selected output bitrate, or encoder settings do not match the chosen format.
- Fix: Check the resolution-specific bitrate guidance, reduce the target if the available connection cannot support it, use constant bitrate, and confirm the keyframe interval is two seconds and no more than four.
A managed video API has no usable content
- Likely issue: The service is being treated as the game host or encoder even though it requires a live input feed.
- Fix: Produce and connect a compatible feed first, or choose GPU compute if the cloud must run the game. Confirm output formats and configuration in the relevant service documentation.
A VOD stream stops after a YouTube interruption
- Likely issue: The broadcast needs recovery after YouTube drops the stream.
