The best cloud service for a 24/7 YouTube radio station depends on whether you want a ready-made service to loop prerecorded videos or a configurable media pipeline your team operates. For a creator who wants the first option, StreamNeo is the first service to consider: upload videos, add your YouTube stream key, and let its cloud service loop them, with any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot and a free first day. YouTube’s verified encoder directory also lists Gyre and Upstream for 24/7 streaming. For technical teams building their own infrastructure, Google Cloud Live Stream API supplies media-pipeline components, not a turnkey radio scheduler.
Which kind of cloud service does a 24/7 YouTube radio station need?
A cloud service keeps the stream running on provider infrastructure rather than relying on a computer and home internet connection to stay online. The main choice is between a managed creator service, which may simplify looping prerecorded material, and custom cloud infrastructure, which gives a technical team more control but requires implementation and ongoing operations.
- Choose a managed service if you want a simpler path to stream prerecorded material and need playlist or scheduling controls. Confirm that its current features fit an audio-led station and your visual format.
- Choose a custom pipeline if you can configure media inputs, transcoding, outputs, storage, and monitoring, and are prepared to handle session restarts.
“Cloud” alone does not establish that a service offers automatic recovery, continuous playback, a particular audio workflow, or a service-level commitment. Check those details with the provider before committing.
Services to consider
1. StreamNeo — a cloud loop for uploaded videos
StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Playback runs in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and it streams to YouTube only.

2. Gyre — managed cloud streaming
YouTube’s encoder listing describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos. That makes it a relevant managed-service candidate for a station built around recorded material. The listing does not establish its current pricing, uptime commitments, playlist controls, audio-only handling, or recovery behavior; verify those points with Gyre before choosing it.
3. Upstream — browser-based cloud studio
YouTube lists Upstream as a cloud studio for 24/7 live video streaming. Confirm directly whether its current workflow supports your audio-led radio format, visuals, playlist changes, and operating needs. The YouTube listing does not establish current prices, service guarantees, or recovery behavior.

4. Google Cloud Live Stream API — custom media infrastructure
Google Cloud Live Stream API accepts an input endpoint, transcodes live input to HLS or DASH, and can integrate with Cloud Storage. These are building blocks for a custom pipeline, not a turnkey YouTube radio scheduler. A team must design the workflow and its monitoring, storage, and broadcast management rather than expecting a ready-made playlist interface.
| Option | What the cited documentation establishes | What to verify or plan |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Cloud looping of uploaded videos to YouTube, playlists, one always-on stream per slot, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. | Whether its upload-based workflow and storage suit your station’s programming and archive needs. |
| Gyre | YouTube describes it as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. | Current pricing, limits, playlist controls, audio or static-visual workflow, support, and recovery. |

| Google Cloud Live Stream API | Input endpoint, transcoding to HLS or DASH, and Cloud Storage integration. | Implementation, monitoring, quotas, region and service details, and total operating cost. |
YouTube’s descriptions identify possible tools; they do not establish a universal winner. Compare the current provider terms against your expected resolution, bitrate, duration, playlist-update needs, archive plan, and required recovery process.

How to choose for your station
- Define the stream format. Decide whether you will loop uploaded video with audio, use a static visual with audio, or run another live-input workflow. Ask the provider to confirm that exact format rather than assuming audio-only support.
- Check continuity and recovery. Ask what happens after a dropped connection or platform interruption, whether restart is automatic, and what alerts or support are included. Do not equate a 24/7 product description with a published uptime guarantee.
- Test playlist operations. Find out how to add, remove, reorder, or replace material while the station is operating, and whether the service can schedule changes as you need.
- Work out total cost at your actual settings. Request current prices and limits for the resolution, bitrate, number of channels, and duration you expect. For custom cloud infrastructure, include storage, transcoding, output, monitoring, and the engineering effort to operate it.
- Plan archives separately. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume the same archive behavior for longer continuous broadcasts; establish how you will retain any recordings you need.
- Confirm stream-key and control arrangements. YouTube’s encoder setup uses a Live server URL and stream key. Check how the chosen service stores and uses the key, who can access it, and how to replace it if necessary.
YouTube requirements and operational limits
Activate live streaming before launch
YouTube says first-time live streaming activation can take up to 24 hours. Complete activation and test the channel before the scheduled start rather than treating a new channel as instantly ready.
Allow for Google Cloud session restarts
Google documents that Live Stream API sessions last 24 hours after a channel starts; an active channel may need to be restarted after that duration. A continuous design using this API therefore needs restart handling and monitoring. This is a Google Cloud API limit, not an industry-wide standard for streaming services.

Clear rights for music and other content
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to hold the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights, and to meet applicable regulatory requirements. A technical hosting service does not grant those rights. Confirm that your licenses cover live transmission, territories, and any archives you plan to keep; requirements can vary by territory and content.
Or let it run in the cloud
