A black screen in a 24/7 aarti stream is a symptom, not a diagnosis. First find out whether the picture disappears at the camera or media source, in the encoder preview, or only after the stream reaches YouTube. Then use YouTube’s health messages and timestamps to guide the fix instead of changing settings at random.
Find where the picture disappears
- Check the source. Look at the camera, media player, or other video source directly. If it is already black, inspect the source, its power, cable or connection, and playback before changing the encoder.
- Check the encoder preview. If the source has a picture but the encoder preview does not, inspect the selected video source, routing, and encoder errors. Check CPU load and, if available, a local recording or archive.
- Compare the preview with the public stream. If the encoder preview looks right but YouTube is black or unhealthy, look at YouTube’s stream health and investigate encoding and outbound delivery.
YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the stream in the encoder, encoder errors and CPU load, the local archive, and the outbound connection. It notes that if a stream looks and sounds healthy in the encoder, there may be an outbound internet connection issue.
Read YouTube’s health messages before changing settings
For YouTube streams, check the Live Dashboard or Live Control Room Health Indicator. YouTube displays errors beside the indicator with timestamps; red messages are critical, while yellow messages are moderate. Record the exact message and time so you can match the symptom to the relevant guidance. YouTube says unresolved errors continue to appear.
Google’s LiveStream API configuration issue list includes `noVideoStream` and `videoIngestionStarved`. Its health states include `good`, `ok`, `bad`, and `noData`. These statuses narrow the investigation but do not, on their own, identify which piece of equipment or service failed.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check video format, bitrate, and delivery
Match the encoder to YouTube’s current guidance
If YouTube reports an incorrect stream format, its live streaming error guidance specifies H.264 video and AAC audio for that error. Compare the encoder’s actual output format and bitrate with the settings for the resolution you selected. Use YouTube’s current bitrate guidance for that resolution rather than applying one bitrate figure to every resolution and frame rate.
If the available upload bandwidth cannot sustain the selected video setting, reduce the resolution or bitrate in line with YouTube’s guidance. Changing settings is most useful when an error or mismatch points to encoding or delivery; it is not a fix for a source that is already black.

Keep other platforms’ requirements separate
Do not carry YouTube settings over to another service without checking that service’s current requirements. For example, Cloudflare’s live-stream troubleshooting page addresses a specific case where a connected stream has not become playable; it recommends AAC audio and a fixed keyframe interval between two and eight seconds for that condition. That is Cloudflare guidance, not a general YouTube requirement.
Check the encoder and outbound connection
If the encoder preview is wrong, return to the source selection and routing, check encoder errors and CPU load, and inspect a local recording if one exists. If the preview is healthy while YouTube reports a problem, test the outbound internet connection and review the encoder’s connection errors. YouTube recommends contacting the internet service provider if connection testing finds problems.

Use the evidence to choose the next step: a black source calls for source troubleshooting; a healthy source but black encoder preview points toward local input or processing; and a healthy preview with an unhealthy YouTube stream calls for checking output settings and the connection. A hardware or network purchase is not a diagnosis.
Plan for local power or connection interruptions
Use a UPS only when power loss is a real risk
A UPS can provide temporary power to connected equipment during a local outage. ENERGY STAR describes UPS units as protection for connected computers, servers, and telecommunications equipment. Runtime depends on the equipment drawing power: APC’s UPS buying guide cautions that adding connected load reduces backup time. Size a unit for the encoder and any essential network equipment, with the runtime needed for your situation. A UPS cannot fix a bad source, unsupported encoding settings, weak internet, or a platform-side problem, and the cited guidance does not promise enough runtime for a 24/7 broadcast.

Test automatic reconnect before relying on it
OBS Studio documents automatic reconnect as a configurable feature. It may help restore output after a connection interruption, but it cannot guarantee recovery if the encoder, internet connection, or receiving platform remains unavailable. Test the behavior in a private or otherwise controlled stream before relying on it unattended. See the OBS Studio Overview Guide for the software’s documented controls.

If the stream uses uploaded recordings or a playlist rather than a live temple camera, cloud playout is a different way to operate it: playback runs on a service rather than on a local streaming computer. It does not address a live camera source, and no cloud service eliminates every interruption. Check platform compatibility, rights to the recordings, service limits, data handling, reliability needs, and current terms before choosing one.

Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you see | What to check next |
|---|---|
| The camera or media player is black | Check the source itself and its connection before investigating YouTube. |
| The source looks right, but the encoder preview is black | Check the selected source, routing, encoder errors, CPU load, and local recording. |
| The encoder preview is healthy, but YouTube reports a problem | Capture the timestamped Health Indicator error; compare format and bitrate with current YouTube guidance, then check outbound connectivity. |
| YouTube reports no video or a starved feed | Treat `noVideoStream` or `videoIngestionStarved` as a clue to inspect the feed and delivery path, not as proof of a specific failed component. |
| The stream stops during a local power cut | Consider a UPS sized for the connected load and required runtime; it only helps with local power loss. |
| The stream drops after a connection interruption | Review the encoder’s reconnect configuration and test recovery in a controlled stream. |
Protect the stream’s content as well as its picture
A technically healthy stream still needs to comply with YouTube’s rules. Use recordings you own or are authorized to broadcast, and check the rights for music, performances, and other material in a playlist. A continuous stream is not exempt from copyright requirements. YouTube’s health messages diagnose delivery, not whether you have permission to use the content.
