To loop a prerecorded sound bath in a YouTube Live broadcast, add the recording to OBS Studio as a Media Source, enable Loop in its properties, then send OBS’s output to YouTube through an encoder stream. The repeat happens in OBS before the video reaches YouTube; YouTube’s own Loop command repeats a regular video for an individual viewer, not a live broadcast.
Choose the right kind of loop

Use the OBS method when you want the session to appear as a live stream. If you only want to replay a sound bath recording, use the regular YouTube video’s player controls instead.
Before you start
- Check live-stream eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Confirm eligibility before preparing the broadcast. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
- Have the recording ready. OBS Media Source supports local audio and video files. Check that the file plays correctly and that its sound is at an appropriate level. OBS Media Sources
- Use audio you have the right to broadcast. A sound bath recording can contain music, samples, or other material that is not yours. Check the applicable rights and YouTube’s copyright guidance before going live; a loop does not change the rights status of the recording.
- Plan the session length and archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
Set up the recording loop in OBS
- Create a scene: In OBS, create or select a scene for the sound bath. Add the recording using Sources > + > Media Source, then choose the local file. Labels and layout can vary by OBS version.
- Enable repetition: Open the Media Source properties and check Loop. This makes the source start again after playback reaches the end. Confirm that the option is enabled and that the recording appears in the OBS preview.
- Check playback: Play the source and watch the audio meter while listening to the preview or monitoring output. Confirm that the sound is present, not unexpectedly clipped or silent, and that the video framing is appropriate if the recording includes video. Let playback reach its end if you can, to verify that it starts again.
- Keep the source available: The file must remain accessible to OBS during the broadcast. Avoid moving or renaming it after selecting it, and test the scene again if you change the file path.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room: Create or select a stream and configure the encoder connection. YouTube’s stream key identifies where the encoder sends its feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Treat the key as private; do not show it in a screen share or publish it. - Enter the connection details in OBS: Use the server and stream key provided in YouTube Studio in OBS’s stream settings. Follow the current connection instructions for the protocol you choose. OBS is among the encoders YouTube lists for HLS output, but HLS-specific settings apply only if you choose HLS; do not assume those settings apply to every protocol. - Start the encoder and check YouTube’s preview: Start streaming from OBS, then wait for the Live Control Room to show the incoming feed. Review the picture and sound there before starting the public event. YouTube advises setting up encoder streams in advance, checking the preview and event accessibility, and monitoring audio and video quality during the stream. YouTube Help: Go live with an encoder
- Start the live event: Once the preview is correct, start the event in YouTube Studio if the selected workflow requires that step. Confirm that the event is accessible as intended, then keep an eye on OBS and YouTube Studio for interruptions or quality warnings.
End and preserve the broadcast
Decide in advance when the sound bath should stop. End the broadcast from the encoder and/or Live Control Room as required by the selected workflow, and verify that the event has ended. For a session that must be preserved, make a local recording or other backup rather than relying only on YouTube’s automatic archive: streams shorter than 12 hours can be archived automatically, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Troubleshoot common problems
The recording plays once and stops
Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm that Loop is checked on the source used in the active scene. If you replaced or re-added the source, verify the new source’s setting too.

YouTube does not receive the OBS feed
Confirm the channel is verified and eligible to stream, then check that OBS has the server and stream key from the selected YouTube stream. Ensure the key has not been mistyped or exposed, and follow the instructions for the protocol selected in YouTube Studio. YouTube live-stream requirements · Encoder setup
The Live Control Room preview is missing or has no sound
First confirm that OBS’s preview and audio meter show the expected source and sound. Then check that OBS is streaming to the correct YouTube event and that the event preview has finished connecting. YouTube recommends checking the Live Control Room preview and monitoring audio and video during the session. YouTube Help: Go live with an encoder

The saved stream is unavailable or incomplete
Check the stream’s duration. YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured, so keep a local archive backup when retention matters. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
