Not on the evidence currently available. Wowza Video documents both 24×7 channels and looping a prerecorded MP4, but its documented playback destinations do not establish that a looped file can be sent to YouTube Live. In a Wowza Community response dated July 10, 2025, a Senior Technical Support Engineer said prerecorded playlist delivery to external platforms such as YouTube did not then exist in Wowza Video. Confirm current support with Wowza before building a YouTube workflow around it.
What “24/7” means in this workflow
A continuous stream might repeat one prerecorded video, rotate through several files, or carry a live encoder or camera feed around the clock. Wowza Video’s published instructions describe a single-MP4 loop and a separate 24×7 channel feature. Those descriptions do not, by themselves, establish that either setup outputs prerecorded content to YouTube Live.
The key distinction is the destination: Wowza’s 24×7 guide describes viewing through Wowza-generated JavaScript or iFrame embeds and a Wowza-hosted page. That is not the same as delivering the stream to YouTube. A general API description of stream targets, including custom external destinations, likewise does not verify the specific combination of a looped file, continuous operation, and YouTube output.
Check eligibility before configuring a 24×7 channel
Wowza’s guide, “Stream a 24×7 channel with Wowza Video,” updated June 12, 2025, says the account must have 24×7 streaming enabled. The feature is not available in a trial account. Check that access with Wowza before planning the channel.

How to configure Wowza Video to loop one MP4
Wowza’s “Stream a video as live in Wowza Video” instructions, updated November 26, 2024, describe a stored-video workflow. Use these steps to configure the documented loop; do not assume it will reach YouTube unless Wowza confirms that destination is supported for your account and use case.
- Prepare a valid MP4 recording. The documented prerecorded-video input requires a valid MP4 file.
- Create the video stream in Wowza Video. In the stream setup, select the prerecorded-video workflow and provide the MP4.
- Enable “Loop video.” Wowza says the stream continues until you stop it manually or it reaches its configured schedule end.
- Set a schedule if needed. The schedule can be one-time or recurring. Select the correct time zone; additional schedules can be created after stream creation.
- Verify the destination before relying on it. Confirm directly with Wowza that the configured output can send the loop to your YouTube Live event continuously. Test the actual YouTube playback, not only a Wowza-hosted viewing page or embed.
Can Wowza Video send a prerecorded playlist to YouTube?
Wowza Community’s “VOD on Playlist as LIVE” question was posted July 9, 2025. In a response dated July 10, 2025, Jason Hilton, Senior Technical Support Engineer at Wowza, wrote: “This particular functionality doesn’t currently exist in the Wowza Video service but it has been added as a feature request which will be considered for a future version.” The answer addressed delivery of prerecorded playlists to external platforms such as YouTube. It is a dated support response, not a guarantee about what the product supports today; ask Wowza to confirm current capabilities.

The response mentioned combining multiple videos into one MP4 as a limited workaround. It also warned that file size and duration could make the resulting file unusable. That does not establish that the combined file can be delivered to YouTube through Wowza Video, so confirm the output path before investing effort in this approach.
What about Wowza Streaming Engine?
The same support response points to Wowza Streaming Engine and its StreamPublisher module for scheduled streams and playlists if Wowza Video is not required. The available documentation does not establish whether that option currently supports YouTube delivery from prerecorded sources, what hosting or configuration it requires, or how its price compares. Treat it as a lead to verify with Wowza, not a confirmed solution to this exact workflow.

Control operating time and charges
Wowza’s 24×7 guide warns that charges accrue for live streams started in Wowza Video even when they are not actively streaming content. It says idle streams are automatically stopped after 20 minutes, and recommends stopping streams when finished. The guide does not state a price, so check your account’s current billing terms and usage rather than assuming an idle stream is free.
