A 24-hour broadcast can run, but YouTube may not archive a stream longer than 12 hours; if you need reliable replays, use shorter sessions and keep a local recording.
1. Clear the music before you build the stream
Instrumental music is not automatically copyright-free. Identify the rights holders for both the recordings and the underlying compositions in your playlist. Get permission for the intended livestream, the territories where it will be available, and any archive or replay you plan to keep. The appropriate rights depend on the actual catalogue and rights holders; there is no single clearance route established here for every Indian recording.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can replace the live image with a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even if you have a licence, the stream may be interrupted unless the rights owner has added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the relevant label, distributor, or rights holder to arrange allowlisting before launch, and confirm that it covers the channel you will use. Keep a record of permissions and the playlist they cover. If you change tracks, territories, or archive plans, confirm that the existing permission still applies rather than assuming it does.

2. Enable live streaming on your channel
- Verify your YouTube channel if you have not already done so.
- Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio before the planned launch. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the day you intend to go live.

3. Connect an encoder to YouTube Studio
An encoder takes your prepared audio and visuals and sends them to YouTube as a live feed. YouTube supports software encoders; a dedicated hardware encoder is an optional route for creators who prefer a separate device or have a higher-production setup. The official guidance does not make hardware necessary for an audio-led stream, and it does not establish a single best encoder or configuration for every setup.

- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into the corresponding fields in your encoder.
- Start the encoder’s output and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room.
- Check that the visuals are correct and that the music is audible and continuous. Then start the broadcast in YouTube Studio.
- Check the live watch page from a viewer’s perspective and monitor audio and video after launch.
Your stream key acts as the encoder’s credential. Keep it private; if it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and its streaming tips for the current workflow. Test the complete path before making the stream public.
4. Choose between one long session and shorter broadcasts
A single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast is convenient operationally, but it exceeds YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. Do not rely on a single continuous broadcast to produce a complete replay.

5. Test and monitor the stream
Before launch, test the same music, visuals, encoder, and network path you expect to use continuously. Confirm that the preview appears in Live Control Room, the stream is accessible on the channel and watch pages, and the audio does not stop or change unexpectedly. During operation, monitor audio and video; if you are making a local recording, check that it is being saved as expected. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend testing the setup and checking accessibility and quality.

6. Troubleshoot common problems
- Live streaming is not available: verify the channel, check for a restriction in the previous 90 days, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- YouTube receives no encoder signal: confirm that the encoder is using the stream URL and key for the intended Live Control Room stream, then check that the encoder is actually sending output.
- The live preview is wrong or silent: inspect the encoder’s selected audio and visual sources, correct them, and verify the preview again before starting the broadcast.
- The stream is interrupted after music is detected: a licence alone may not prevent a Content ID interruption. Contact the rights holder or distributor to confirm permission and channel allowlisting.
- The full 24-hour replay is missing: a stream over 12 hours may not be captured. Use sessions under 12 hours for future broadcasts and keep a local recording when an archive is important.
