1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteUse OBS on a local computer for genuinely live church services that need a camera, sanctuary audio, graphics, or scene changes. Choose cloud playout for an unattended loop of prerecorded sermons, worship sessions, or other church-owned or licensed videos. These are different workflows: a cloud loop does not replace live camera production, and a local OBS setup must keep its equipment, internet connection, and power available. Start by deciding which kind of stream your church actually needs.
Choose by content, not by the “24/7” label
| Question | Local OBS | Cloud playout |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit | Live service with a camera, audio mixer feed, graphics, scene changes, or an operator. | Uploaded prerecorded videos or playlists intended to run unattended. |
| What must be available at the church? | Camera and audio chain, computer running the encoder, internet, power, and a person or responder able to address problems. | Upload and scheduling work. The provider handles the outbound streaming workflow described by its plan. |
| Main trade-off | More production control and use of existing equipment, but the church is responsible for local operation and continuity. | Convenient unattended scheduling, in exchange for recurring cost, plan limits, and reliance on the provider. |
| What to test | Camera/audio sync, representative movement and sound, upload stability, stream health, and recovery procedure. | Upload, YouTube permissions, playlist and loop behavior, continuity after interruptions, archive plan, and cancellation or duration limits. |
A browser production studio is another category, not automatically a substitute for prerecorded 24/7 playout. StreamYard’s help center describes a browser-based workflow and recommends wired Ethernet where possible; the reviewed page does not establish unattended 24/7 prerecorded looping. Check its current feature documentation before treating it as equivalent. StreamYard Help Center.
Get the YouTube channel and broadcast ready
- Enable live streaming. YouTube says the channel must be verified, live streaming enabled, and free of a live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days. Review YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Check stream capacity. YouTube currently documents up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key. If the church already runs other broadcasts, account for them.
- Create or select the broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room. Copy the matching stream key into OBS or the cloud service. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it casually, or include it in screenshots.
- Test the actual venue connection and production. Match resolution and frame rate to the camera or source material and the stable upload capacity. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real service, and says: “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.”
- Set a response plan. Assign a person or documented on-call process to watch stream health and respond to failure. A 24/7 broadcast needs recovery planning for internet loss, power loss, a frozen computer, or a provider-plan interruption; YouTube does not promise that a church’s end-to-end setup will remain online.
OBS settings for a live church service
YouTube’s current encoder guidance supports RTMP or RTMPS, H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS because the data is encrypted to and through Google’s servers. For a straightforward OBS setup, RTMPS with H.264 video, AAC audio, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval is a practical configuration aligned with that guidance. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrates.
H.264 bitrate reference
| Output | YouTube-recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 or 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular church connection can sustain the rate. Test from the venue, leave capacity for other internet use, and choose a reliable setting rather than the highest available resolution. The exact upload headroom needed depends on the connection and competing traffic; it is not specified by YouTube’s cited guidance.

Live production checklist
- In OBS, select the camera and the intended audio source, such as the church mixer feed, then verify that speech and music are clear and synchronized.
- Build and rehearse the scenes the service actually requires: for example, a camera view, lyrics or presentation, and transitions. Confirm that graphics do not obscure important content.
- Enter the broadcast’s stream key in OBS and confirm the selected broadcast in Live Control Room corresponds to that key.
- Run a private or otherwise appropriate test before the service, including camera movement, speaking, music, and scene changes. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages.
- Document who can restart OBS, restore the internet or power where possible, and communicate with viewers if the broadcast cannot be recovered promptly.
An HD webcam can suit a simple single-camera setup if the church does not already have a suitable camera. For a distant sanctuary view, check field of view, low-light performance, mounting, audio inputs, and compatibility before buying. A webcam is not required for a prerecorded cloud loop. A separate microphone is not automatically necessary either: many churches may use a mixer feed, and the right audio chain depends on the venue.
Plan the 24/7 archive and content rights
A YouTube-published production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and advises separately recording longer streams for manual upload. Because this is a general guide and archive behavior can change, confirm the current behavior in YouTube Studio before relying on it. Keep a separate source recording for a continuous broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming production guide.

Confirm that the church has permission for every sermon, song, video, and other material in the broadcast, both for live transmission and any later on-demand publication. YouTube’s guidance says creators should secure clearances for live streaming, rebroadcast, and on-demand audio/video. All live content must also follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
Cloud options for prerecorded church programming
- StreamNeo — first option to consider for an uploaded-video loop. StreamNeo describes a YouTube-only cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. It advertises any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot and offers a first day free without a card. These are vendor-published claims, not independently tested uptime results. Review StreamNeo and confirm current terms and fit for the church’s prerecorded workflow.
- OneStream Live — check plan eligibility and limits. Its help center says 24/7 streaming is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, supports uploaded or cloud-stored video selection and scheduling, and has a maximum duration of 30 days. That documents a feature path, not an India-specific quote. Confirm the current plan and terms at OneStream Live’s 24/7 streaming help article.
- Other providers — verify the precise feature. YouTube’s encoder directory includes cloud and hardware options, including providers that advertise prerecorded 24/7 streaming. Directory inclusion is not an endorsement and does not establish availability or performance for a church in India. Check the provider’s current documentation and written terms.
For an Indian church, StreamNeo publishes the following per-slot options; the site displays Indian pricing to visitors in India and global pricing elsewhere. Confirm current price, taxes, payment, storage and upload limits, service geography, and support terms before committing. UPI and cards are supported in India; card checkout is available worldwide.

Troubleshooting a failed or unstable stream
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | Wrong or mismatched stream key, broadcast selection, or disabled channel live access. | Confirm live access, select the intended broadcast, and compare the key entered in the encoder with the one shown for that broadcast. Keep the key private. |
| Stream health reports connection problems or viewers see interruptions | Upload capacity is insufficient or unstable, or other devices are consuming bandwidth. | Run a venue speed test, reduce resolution or frame rate/bitrate to a sustainable setting, and retest during realistic network use. Follow YouTube’s bitrate guidance rather than assuming a speed-test peak is continuously available. |
| Audio is unclear, missing, or out of sync | Incorrect audio source or levels, or a mismatch in the camera and audio path. | Check the OBS input and mixer routing, listen to a representative test, and verify synchronization before the service. |
| A local stream stops after a power or internet failure | The computer, router, encoder, or venue power was interrupted. | Restore the failed component, restart or reconnect the encoder, verify stream health, and have a named responder follow the church’s recovery procedure. |
| A cloud loop does not continue as expected | Upload, scheduling, YouTube authorization, plan duration, or provider terms may be involved. | Check the service’s schedule and connection status, verify the YouTube key and permissions, and confirm the plan’s duration and continuity terms with the provider. |
| The 24/7 broadcast is not available as a complete archive | Continuous broadcasts can exceed the stated archive threshold in YouTube’s production guide. | Maintain a separate recording and check the current archive behavior in YouTube Studio. |
Make the decision with the church’s actual constraints
- Live camera worship or a service in progress: use OBS or another live-production workflow, then test the full camera/audio and internet chain at the venue.
- Continuous rotation of existing recordings: compare cloud playout plans, duration limits, storage, recovery, and written terms; StreamNeo is the first service to consider for an uploaded-video loop.
- Uncertain connection or budget: establish the actual upload stability, inventory cameras, mixer, computer and power backup, and decide who will respond to failures before selecting a workflow.
- Mixed use: a church may need local production for services and separate cloud playout for prerecorded programming. Confirm how each broadcast fits YouTube’s channel and stream-key concurrency limits.
