You can turn podcast episodes into a continuous YouTube live stream by looping audio or video through an encoder such as OBS and sending that feed to YouTube Live Control Room. The encoder, source media, power and internet connection must remain available for a local setup, so test the full chain and decide how you will handle interruptions before going live.
1. Check that your channel can livestream
Before preparing the feed, confirm your channel is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current help page also says you must be at least 16 to livestream. Check the requirements and prompts in your own Live Control Room; do not rely on older guides that promise activation always takes a fixed 24 hours. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance is the place to confirm current rules.
2. Prepare podcast episodes and visuals
Choose content you are allowed to rebroadcast
Select episodes you have the necessary rights to stream on YouTube. A podcast’s existing distribution rights do not automatically establish permission for every music track, guest contribution, cover image or other asset in a YouTube livestream. Check the relevant agreements when permission is unclear. YouTube says livestreams must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and it may restrict streams.
Build a continuous program
Put the selected episodes in a playlist or another playback queue that continues from one item to the next. Decide what viewers will see: for example, a podcast cover, episode title card or simple visual loop. These are production choices, not stated YouTube requirements. Check that the visual is also cleared for use.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Listen through the transitions and check the start and end of each file. Remove accidental silence, clipped openings and material you do not want rebroadcast. Keep a separate copy of the original episodes and a record of the playlist order so you can diagnose or rebuild the program if the source stops.
3. Choose local or cloud operation
Local encoder
With a local setup, your computer, encoder, playback source, power and internet connection all need to stay available. This can be a sensible option if you already have a suitable machine and can monitor it. A dedicated streaming computer is not automatically necessary; YouTube says expensive equipment is not required.

Hosted operation
A hosted service can reduce reliance on a computer and home internet connection, but compare what the service actually provides: recovery after a disconnect, monitoring or alerts, archive handling, content controls and total cost. YouTube’s documentation describes a 24/7 feed as a possible broadcast pattern; it does not establish the reliability, features or pricing of any particular provider.
4. Create the broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room
- Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room using the current navigation shown in your account.
- Create or schedule a live broadcast, then follow the on-screen instructions for encoder streaming and destination settings.
- Copy or select the stream credentials shown by YouTube and use the current Studio guidance to enter them in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Set the broadcast visibility and title, description and other details for the audience you intend to reach. Review the preview and stream status before starting the public broadcast.
YouTube’s Studio interface can change, so use the labels displayed in your account rather than assuming an older screenshot matches.

5. Set up OBS as the local encoder
OBS is one possible software encoder for this workflow. Its official Help Portal points to setup and streaming guidance, including the Auto-Configuration Wizard. Use YouTube’s current recommended settings and the instructions in the two products rather than treating older third-party presets as current platform requirements.
- Install OBS from the official project source and run its Auto-Configuration Wizard if you need help choosing initial streaming settings.
- Add the podcast playback source or playlist and the visual you prepared. Confirm that the audio meter responds and the intended image appears in the preview.
- In OBS’s stream settings, select YouTube and enter the stream credentials obtained through Live Control Room, following the current official workflow. Do not expose the key in screenshots or public notes.
- Start a private or otherwise limited test where available, and check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview and status before launching the intended broadcast.
- Once the test passes, start the broadcast and verify that the episode source advances as expected. Keep OBS and its source running for as long as the local stream needs to remain live.
There is no universal bitrate or resolution value established here for every podcast feed and connection. Follow the current YouTube encoder recommendations for your chosen output, and make sure your upload connection can sustain it. YouTube transcodes streams for playback, but OBS’s project page describing transcoding is dated June 9, 2021, so it should not be treated as a current configuration specification: OBS transcoding background.

6. Test the whole stream and monitor it
Before promoting the stream, validate more than the encoder’s local preview. YouTube’s live-streaming tips describe operational checks such as inspecting the Live Control Room preview, confirming the stream is accessible to viewers, checking archive-file growth, and monitoring audio and video quality.
- Open the intended watch page or channel view from a viewer perspective, including on a phone if that is part of your audience’s normal access.
- Listen for missing, distorted or unexpectedly quiet audio; verify that the visual is stable and the episode order is correct.
- Check the local recording or archive file, if you are recording locally, to make sure it is growing and playable.
- Arrange for a person or monitoring process to notice a stopped source, failed connection or encoder exit. Decide who will restart it and how viewers will be informed.
YouTube’s API documentation models broadcasts and streams separately and gives a 24/7 channel feed as an example, but continuous operation still depends on the source, encoder, network and monitoring being available. See Understanding Broadcasts and Streams.

7. Plan for interruptions and replay archives
Do not assume the encoder or YouTube will restore every interruption automatically. Decide how you will detect a dropped source or connection, whether to restart the encoder or broadcast, and what viewers should see during recovery. Reconnection behavior depends on the chosen setup; verify it rather than assuming it.
Likewise, do not assume a very long broadcast will always become one complete, permanently available replay. YouTube exposes archive and automatic-recording settings, but creators should confirm their current settings and test the resulting replay for their own stream. The LiveBroadcasts documentation describes archive-related settings; it does not establish a universal archive-duration promise.

Common problems and fixes
| What you see | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a livestream | Channel verification, age eligibility, or a restriction in the preceding 90 days | Review the current requirements and account status in YouTube Studio before rebuilding the encoder setup. |
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | Stream destination, credentials, and whether the encoder is actually streaming | Recheck the current Live Control Room instructions and re-enter the correct stream credentials securely. |
| Preview is blank or has no audio | OBS source selection, playback state, audio meter and routing | Confirm the playlist is playing, the intended visual is active and audio is reaching OBS before testing again. |
| Stream stops unexpectedly | Playback source, encoder process, power and network connection | Identify which part stopped, restart that component, and monitor the Live Control Room status as the feed returns. |
| Replay is missing or incomplete | Current archive and automatic-recording settings, plus the actual stream setup | Test a short broadcast first and inspect the resulting replay; keep a separate local recording when a copy matters. |
| Copyright claim or restriction | Rights for every track, guest contribution, visual and other included asset | Review the relevant licenses and agreements, then remove or replace material you cannot rebroadcast. |
