Restream can schedule a prerecorded YouTube event and loop the selected video up to 10 times, but its documented workflow does not establish an endless loop or a single event that runs indefinitely. You can use it to schedule a prerecorded broadcast; for a genuinely continuous 24/7 stream, plan a workflow designed for continuous playback and recovery instead.
What Restream can—and cannot—do for a 24/7 stream
Restream’s Upload & Stream feature lets you schedule a prerecorded video to air automatically on YouTube. Its documented loop control allows up to 10 repetitions of a video. That is a finite repeat count, not evidence that one event will keep repeating without end. See the Restream scheduling guide.
Restream says it does not impose a stream-duration limit, but notes that its server may be restarted during a continuous stream longer than 24 hours and recommends restarting every 24 hours. That operational caveat matters if your goal is a channel that stays live around the clock. See Restream’s stream-duration guidance.
Before you schedule: check YouTube eligibility and your channel
- Confirm that live streaming is enabled for the YouTube channel you intend to use. YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours after phone verification. Review YouTube’s encoder setup and eligibility requirements.
- Connect the correct YouTube account in Restream. Restream’s guide says the connected account must own the YouTube channel. See Restream’s YouTube connection guide.
- Check the current storage and file-size limits for your Restream account and any applicable add-on before preparing a long video or playlist. Limits depend on the account add-on tier; they are not one universal allowance. Restream describes Upload & Stream at its feature overview.
- Use video and audio that you have the rights to broadcast. YouTube’s live-stream eligibility and copyright policies still apply to prerecorded material. A successful schedule does not establish that a video is cleared for broadcast or monetization.
Schedule a prerecorded YouTube event in Restream
- Open the prerecorded-stream workflow. In Restream, start a new stream and choose Pre-recorded livestream, then select Video.
- Choose the video. Select an existing upload or recording, or upload the file. Check the file against your account’s current storage and size limits before relying on it for a long broadcast.
- Set up the event. Enter its title, description, date, and time. Add an event post or thumbnail if useful. If you want a repeat, set the loop count; Restream documents up to 10 repetitions, not unlimited looping.
- Select YouTube and create the event. Ensure YouTube is enabled as a destination, then create the event. Restream says the event airs automatically at the scheduled time. Its guide also describes monitoring the stream and chat while it is airing.
- Test the actual schedule. Confirm that the intended channel, video, event details, and start time are correct, then monitor a test before depending on the workflow for a continuous channel. A scheduled event starting automatically is not the same as an uninterrupted 24/7 feed.
Follow Restream’s current step-by-step scheduling instructions if its interface labels change.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you connect an encoder instead
Restream also supports connecting encoder software through RTMP details. Use the ingest URL and key shown for the destination you are configuring. Do not substitute Restream’s ingest credentials for YouTube’s direct ingest credentials: they are different connection details. YouTube describes its stream key as like the stream’s password and address; keep it private and reset it if compromised. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance and Restream’s YouTube setup instructions.
Encoder settings for a Restream-to-YouTube connection
Restream’s YouTube guide lists H.264 video, resolutions from 240p to 2160p, 3,000–40,000 Kbps depending on resolution and frame rate, up to 60 FPS, CBR, and a recommended 2-second keyframe interval (maximum 4 seconds). It lists AAC or MP3 audio and stereo audio at 128 Kbps. These are ranges and recommendations, not one preset suitable for every resolution and frame rate. Choose settings for your intended output and check the current destination requirements in Restream’s guide.

YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom above the total streaming bitrate and warns that network interruptions can break a stream. That advice is especially relevant to an encoder running from your own connection. Monitor stream health rather than assuming that a configured bitrate guarantees uninterrupted delivery. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Plan for interruptions, archives, and viewer rewind
Restarts and continuity
For a continuous Restream stream longer than 24 hours, Restream warns that a server may be restarted and recommends restarting every 24 hours. Build a planned interruption or restart into your operating plan, and test how the chosen workflow behaves before relying on it as an always-on channel. The documentation does not establish a method for one Restream prerecorded event to loop forever.

YouTube archives and DVR
Restream’s help page says YouTube archives streams under 12 hours. YouTube also says DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If DVR is disabled, viewers cannot seek backward during the live broadcast. Do not promise a full rewind or complete archive for an around-the-clock stream; see Restream’s duration guidance and YouTube’s DVR guidance.
Troubleshooting a scheduled or continuous stream
- You cannot go live: Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and there are no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours after phone verification.
- The wrong channel appears: Verify that the connected YouTube account owns the intended channel, then check the enabled destination before creating the event.
- The video will not upload or fit: Check current account storage and file-size limits, which depend on the Restream add-on tier. Reduce or replace the file only if that preserves the quality and content you intend to broadcast.
- The stream drops or looks unstable: For an encoder workflow, check that the selected RTMP URL and key belong to the destination in use, confirm encoder settings, and make sure upload bandwidth exceeds the total bitrate by YouTube’s recommended 20% margin. Investigate network interruptions rather than repeatedly changing unrelated video settings.
- A key may be exposed: Treat it as a credential. Reset the YouTube stream key through YouTube’s live-stream settings and update the encoder or connection that uses it.
- The broadcast stops after repeating: Restream’s documented loop is limited to 10 repetitions. It does not confirm an endless loop; choose a workflow intended for continuous playback.
For a true 24/7 broadcast, choose a continuous-playback workflow
YouTube’s encoder documentation lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. YouTube’s listing establishes that it is an option to investigate, not its current plan details, limits, or reliability; confirm those directly with the provider. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
