To send a Dacast live channel to a YouTube Live event, use Dacast Simulcast: connect YouTube as a destination, enter the stream key for the YouTube event, then start your encoder and verify the feed at both services. This forwards an existing Dacast encoder channel; it does not create the YouTube event or guarantee uninterrupted streaming. Before setup, confirm that your channel is eligible and your account has simulcast credits.
What you need before connecting Dacast and YouTube
- An eligible Dacast encoder live channel. Dacast’s Simulcast API documentation excludes HLS ingest channels and VOD Rebroadcast channels. See Dacast’s Simulcast documentation.
- Simulcast credits available in your Dacast account. Dacast says an attempt to add a destination with no credits can return a 403 error.
- A YouTube Live event and its current stream key from YouTube Studio. YouTube distinguishes the broadcast viewers watch from the stream carrying the audio and video; the broadcast is bound to a stream. See YouTube’s explanation of broadcasts and streams.
- Your encoder’s current Dacast ingest settings. Dacast warns that adding a destination can change the ingest URL, so recheck the encoder configuration before going live. See Dacast’s new-channel setup guide.
If you still need to create a Dacast live channel, consult Dacast’s live-stream channel guide. Simulcast is a forwarding feature, not a replacement for the channel, encoder, or YouTube event.
Connect the Dacast channel to your YouTube event
- Create or schedule the YouTube event. In YouTube Studio, set up the event and open its stream settings to get the stream key. Use the credentials for the actual event; do not copy example credentials from documentation. YouTube’s LiveStreams documentation describes the stream ingestion information.
- Open the Dacast channel’s Simulcast settings. In the Dacast dashboard, select the eligible live channel, open Engagement, find Simulcast, and select Connect. Dacast’s support walkthrough describes this dashboard path: multi-destination streaming setup.
- Add YouTube as the destination. Choose YouTube in the destination setup and enter the stream key from the event’s YouTube Studio settings. Save the destination.
- Recheck the Dacast ingest URL in your encoder. Because adding a destination may change the Dacast ingest URL, compare the encoder’s configured URL with the current channel settings and update it if needed before starting.
- Start the encoder stream. Start the usual encoder output to Dacast. The Simulcast destination forwards that channel to YouTube; it does not start the encoder for you.
Check that the stream reaches both destinations
While the encoder is streaming, open the Dacast preview or shared stream page and the YouTube event. Confirm that the feed appears at each destination. This verifies the configured path at that time; the documented setup does not promise uninterrupted availability or a maximum continuous runtime.
- Confirm YouTube is showing the event you intended, not another broadcast.
- Check that the saved Dacast destination uses the matching YouTube stream key.
- Verify the Dacast channel remains eligible and that credits were available when the destination was added.
- Reconfirm the encoder’s current Dacast ingest settings if the feed does not appear in Dacast or YouTube.
RTMP, RTMPS, and other YouTube ingest choices
Dacast’s Simulcast feature forwards an existing channel to an RTMP destination; its API example uses a YouTube RTMPS destination. YouTube defines RTMPS as RTMP sent through an SSL connection and says RTMPS connections use port 443. Use the current ingestion endpoint and protocol information supplied for your YouTube stream, rather than substituting sample URLs. See YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube’s protocol comparison lists RTMP and RTMPS for normal, low, or ultra-low latency, with RTMPS adding encryption. HLS and DASH are also documented ingestion options, but have different codec and latency characteristics; they are not interchangeable choices in every encoder or forwarding setup. Follow the protocol supported by the Dacast destination configuration and the stream’s current YouTube ingestion details. See YouTube’s ingestion protocol comparison.
Troubleshoot a Dacast stream that is missing on YouTube
The YouTube destination will not save
Check that the selected channel is an eligible encoder live channel and that the account has Simulcast credits. Dacast excludes HLS ingest and VOD Rebroadcast channels; exhausted credits can produce a 403 response. If those conditions are met, confirm that you entered the stream key from the intended YouTube event and save again.

The stream appears in Dacast but not in YouTube
Check that the destination is saved, its stream key matches the active YouTube event, and the event is the one you are viewing in YouTube Studio. Then confirm the encoder is sending to the current Dacast ingest settings. If you changed Simulcast destinations, revisit the ingest URL because Dacast says it may change.
The feed is missing from Dacast as well
Start with the encoder’s Dacast URL and the channel’s current settings, then confirm the encoder is actually streaming. A missing feed at both destinations is not evidence of a YouTube-only problem. The documented checks cover the published prerequisites and setup path, not every possible account, encoder, network, or YouTube-side error.
